Interpersonal mindfulness is one of the foundational pillars of Somatic Affective Talk and Touch®.
From the chapter on Interpersonal mindfulness..."Mindfulness is an innate human ability to focus the mind on the body and body sensations. It is a practise because, although it is natural, we often lose ourselves in thoughts, worries, planning for the future or fussing about the past, so we lose sight of the present moment." Somatic Affective Talk and Touch ✨

Why is it effective? It works with the physical, somatic body and the emotional, affective body at the same time.

When you still hurt years after an accident, loss or emotional tragedy there is a reason for it... even when you’ve done all the physical and emotional therapy that you can access.

Why?

Because sometimes both need to be acknowledged and worked with, together, and SATT does that and more.

Welcome to the Somatic Affective Talk and Touch Approach!

Gilly Thomas developed SATT to address the gap that exists when there is talk and no touch (mind = talk therapy) and when there is touch and no talk (body = physical therapies).

This holistic approach is based on western medical science and eastern belief, through integration of alternative therapies. She developed a two year program training program so that others can also practice SATT.
