4 Friendly Reminders on cultivating habits, as you prepare for a new week!📆:
1. Doing something everyday is often easier than doing it twice a week.
The truth is that the more we integrate our tiny habits & routines into our everyday, the more we will find consistency and positive change. 10 minutes a day will take you further than 90 minutes every once in awhile.
2. You can only (statistically) integrate ONE new habit every 120 days. Change takes time.
We often hear that it takes 21 days to build a habit. That’s a GREAT start, but if you can stick with something for 4 months, in a row, it will pretty much be second nature after that. Set yourself up for success: one little thing at a time.
3. You can’t hate yourself into change.
This is a huge one! Doing anything from a place of hate, including self-hate, is a recipe for failure. This is why so many people fail to stick with workout plans, healthy eating, etc - if you’re acting from a place of hating your body, that’s not going to be very motivating! See if you can reframe your ‘why’ and show yourself love & kindness.
4. Focusing on what you did right will take you infinitely further than dwelling on what you did wrong.
Similar to #3, love, kindness and positivity work better than criticism, anger & hate. Celebrate your accomplishments. Reflect on what could have gone better but try to remove the shame & the judgements.
