Metro Community Housing Association

Metro Community Housing Association MCHA provides supportive homes and community to individuals living with mental wellness challenges

Metro Community Housing Association is a non-profit, community based organization that provides support to persons living with pervasive and chronic mental illness. Established in 1974, we pride ourselves on the individualized approach in providing supportive homes and community, with 15 homes and over 60 supported apartment settings. Our referral process and thorough assessment result in the best

possible match of person and community support option. Our staff take a collaborative multidisciplinary approach working as part of a support team to provide high quality service to those in our care. At present the majority of our supported individuals are funded through public financial assistance programs, such as those operated by the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, Disability Support Program. However we are very open to receiving referrals and inquiries from self referring individuals, family and health care / support professionals. If you are interested in learning more about our services please Contact Us, we'd love to hear from you.

All over the world, lighthouses are a beacon of light — guiding ships through storms and into safe harbors. Today, on National Lighthouse Day, we honor these symbols of hope, guidance, and safety.

At MCHA, we believe that everyone deserves a lighthouse — a steady light in the dark, a path to safety, and the reassurance that they’re not alone.

Whether it's a support worker, a kind word from a peer, or the strength within ourselves, those guiding lights make all the difference.

As we prepare for our upcoming participant retreat, we’re looking forward to seeing a real lighthouse — and reflecting on the symbolic one we build together every day in our community.

Here’s to finding the light — and being the light — for one another.
