The Next Step
Hi! Welcome to The Next Step! My name is Darlene Bokma and I am a Resource Consultant and Registered Early Childhood Educator as well as a Family Literacy Practitioner. I have worked for over 20 years in the field of early childhood and school-age support with children who have special needs and their caregivers. As well I have supported families as they explore their child's development and learning style. This support can be through coaching, providing resources and assisting in advocacy work including attending meetings with schools and other agencies. I have worked in child care centres supporting staff in providing an inclusive environment both one-on-one and using a coaching model. I have also worked as an Educational Assistant, Teacher's Assistant and Personal Support Worker at both the elementary and high school level.
