When we are going through it, it's easy to get sucked in by the big heavy emotions.

You can take small steps to care for yourself, even in the hardest moments.

Try taking a slow walk outside, calling a friend, journaling your thoughts, or just breathing deeply for a few minutes. 💛

It won’t erase the hard stuff, but it can help you move through it with a little more ease.

Comfort is just that..comfort. It’s familiar, it feels safe and predictable, even if it’s not what we want for ourselves.

While we might want change and growth, the discomfort of the unknown can keep us stuck right where we are.

You know that annoying therapy saying we have all heard (and we have all told you) ad nauseam...”the only way out is through?”...

well turns out it’s true.

If you want to expand your capacity to handle discomfort you have to lean into it.

Little by little consistently over time you will build the confidence necessary to tolerate discomfort and grow.

We believe in you. and if you need some support beleiving in yourself, come grow alongside us!

Do you struggle with a harsh inner critic?

The one that says things like:
“You’re not good enough.”
“You always mess things up.”
“Why can’t you just get it right?”

That voice is our critical part, that often formed to protect us, but tends to do so by using shame, blame, and pressure. It usually stems from earlier experiences and can become louder in moments of stress or vulnerability.

But there’s another voice available to us, the nurturing part. This is the part that speaks with compassion, curiosity, and warmth. The part that understands context, offers grace, and supports us through the hard stuff instead of tearing us down for it.

If you’re curious about exploring and strengthening your nurturing part, we have created a free guide designed to help you connect with that softer inner voice.

Through guided reflections and prompts, it can help you soothe your critical part, not silence it, but understand it, and strengthen your capacity for self-kindness.

You can access this on our resource page directly on our website and through the link in our bio.

Feelings are visitors. Messengers. They come with information, not definitions.

Your feelings are not your identity.

Put a little space between the two, that’s where compassion, choice, and growth live.

We are writing today with some exciting news!

Tina, our Practice Care Coordinator has shifted focus to return to school to complete her BSW! We are beyond proud of her and so excited to welcome Tina to the field of Social Work.

Tina will be taking a short leave from her position at Grace North to focus on school and family. She will return to her role in September AND will also be joining us for her BSW internship as well. (More deets on that to come!!)

In the meantime, please welcome Madeleine to the PCC position, she will be the first point of contact for all new clients as well as supporting current clients with any inquires (and not to worry, Madeleine is still seeing client and accepting new ones!)

Join us in wishing Tina well and welcoming Madeleine to the role of PCC 💕

Summer time mental health is all the time mental health, perhaps with more sun, fun and in a new location.

You can play at the cottage AND cry on the drive home.

You can laugh with friends and family AND carry a heavy heart

You can go to therapy AND still work on your tan

Both things can be true, hold space for both and care for all parts of you. ❤️

We spend so much time preparing for our baby to arrive. The sleep, the feeding, the gear, the developmental leaps, that when we get hit in the face with our own childhood memories it can feel unexpected and overwhelming.

As we move through the ages and stages of motherhood, we’re met with quiet echoes of our past: the way we were comforted, the rules we learned about emotions, the kind of love we received, the safety we felt.

Motherhood has a way of holding up a mirror.

Not to shame us, rather to give us choice.

To take what was good and grounding.
To shift what no longer fits.
To become the parent we once needed and the one our child needs now.

This is how cycles change. This is how stories get rewritten, with love, with effort, and one small moment at a time.

Therapy isn’t just for when things fall apart.

It’s for the quiet questions that keep you up at night.
The patterns you’re ready to break.
The version of yourself you’re still getting to know.

Therapy is a space to process, reflect and build skills for where ever you are in life and at Grace North we are here for you when you’re ready 🩷
