My Ollie.
I'm not crying... (yes I am, I love this dog.. he will never know how much he helps me each day... because all dogs are technically therapy animals in my opinion)
Took some time this week to prepare for 2 finals and finish up those classes, I worked on some art for 3 local shows/events coming up - 1 is next week, tried to fix the website and I "attended" a senior animal care summit this weekend, so we have been busy over here.
But in the busyness, I made sure to have our 6 am daily morning walks together - I mean, how can you have a bad day if you start your mornings with this guy?
Whether you took time off for yourself and relaxed, or you spent the time being super productive, I hope you enjoyed your week... and made sure to enjoy the sunrise with your favourite buddy, too...
Looking forward to our next sunrise bud.

Hey, this is Oliver.
He is a big, sensitive guy who loves to cuddle.. he also gives high fives and BIG hugs (if you are able).
He is a newfypoo - a newfoundland mixed with a poodle. So, not only is he a gentle giant, he is also hypoallergenic (for most people)
I have read from many different resources the positive effect dogs or animal therapy can have on people who need it. People at the end of their life can benefit from it too - no better way to add quality to your days than a hug from a dog if you are a dog lover.
I hope to be a part of the St. John's Ambulance Animal therapy program once he is trained enough to pass the requirements. He's a pretty smart guy, so I'm sure we will pass the test.
This is something I wished to do with my Rex, as everyone who met him immediately loved him, even the toughest person would get on their knees for a cuddle with Rex, and he always made you smile. It wasn't in his cards to do that with me, though. Oliver will do a good job in your place, buddy.
If you have a dog buddy, hug him tight, and if you don't, we are around ♡

"You can not heal in the same environment that made you sick"
Grief doesn't just "go away" or "get easier", you learn how to cope with it.
If someone has experienced a profound loss, they have been thrown into a new way of life that they have to learn how to navigate and heal in, to begin the steps in their grief journey.
But you can't move forward in that journey if you are stuck.
Remember though, it's ok to feel stuck in your grief journey, but it is important to try and figure out why.
There is no proper timeline or steps to take in order to process your grief. It is unique to you.
I hope you are able to process your grief in a supportive environment. I am here for you, too.
Stay well, and take care of eachother 🌼
Today I had to say goodbye to my bestfriend.
It was unexpected. From realizing something was wrong to leaving the vets without him only took about 2 hours.. but "he was able to go while looking at the one thing he loved most in this world".
Is the death of a pet ever truly expected though?
He was the best dog I could have ever asked for. Anyone who knows me knows how much Rex did for me in his life. He even shared his birthday with my son. How beautiful is that?
I hope he knew he was my angel that was given fur instead of wings. My guardian in my darkest time.
Thank you for joining me in this lifetime, Rex. I will see you in the next one, and I'll make sure to bring treats.
Because we all have to go through it one day.
"If life must not be taken too seriously, then so neither must death" -Samuel Butler

Take care of eachother
"Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them." - George Eliot
Always encourage eachother to talk about those who have passed from this life. It can be healing for those in grief and an opportunity to learn about the happiness they brought to others during their life here.
Say their name and celebrate who they were - the fact they lived will never change.
Embrace our existence and those you love, we won't be able to appreciate it forever.
