There is no "right" way to grieve, and there is no timeframe for how long you should/can feel it.

Grief and bereavement can affect people in a number of different ways, and the following factors can affect how a person will express grief externally or adjust to the loss internally:
• the cancer experience.
• manner of disease progression.
• cultural and religious beliefs.
• sociocultural structure in which the grieving process occurs.
• coping skills.
• psychiatric history.
• availability of support systems.
• socioeconomic status.

You can also feel loss and grief without death. The loss of a relationship can make someone feel grief. The loss of "future-self" or "past-self" due to a serious injury or illness can make someone feel profound grief, too (trust me, I know).

There are also many different types of grief people have experienced. Anticipatory grief, "normal" or common grief, compiled or cumulative grief, and prolonged or complicated grief are a few types. Within that, according to the ELNEC, there are four types of complicated grief, including chronic grief, delayed grief, exaggerated grief, and masked grief. In my opinion, that just proves that there are many different types of grief and many different ways people experience their own grief.

"I hope there are days when your coffee tastes like magic, your Playlist makes you dance, strangers make you smile, and the night sky toughes your soul. I hope you fall in love with being alive again."

For whatever you are going through - not every day is the same.
There is support and local resources available for you if you need help having days like this again & doulas can be one of those resources for you.

"Our practice is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

As treaty people and settlers on this land, I aim to honour and acknowledge all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples as the keepers of the lands we all work and live on. This recognition is a beginning to the work of reconciliation and decolonization I am committed to as an individual because "everyone deserves dignity & a safe space in life & in death"."

With the new name change now complete across the board, I wanted to make a new land recognition post as well - please let me know if I need to change or add anything to this
