Early in my practice, I thought I could mold my team into what they needed to be in order to be successful.
After years spent in leadership, I now know that is not the case. People are either the right people for the team, or they’re not.
One of my favourite analogies for leading a team is the concept of people on a bus trying to get to a destination. The goal is to have the right people AND the right bus 🚌 With that combo, you’re golden and can achieve what you set out to achieve (while enjoying yourself along the way).
Asking yourself these 2 questions often, can make you a better leader and help you to cultivate the team of your dreams:
1️⃣ Have I got the right people on the bus and the wrong people off?
2️⃣Have the right people got the right seats?

Did you know that as a physician, you have 3 selves?
1. The first self is you as a physician, going to work, caring for your patients, building your practice.
2. The next self is you as an individual, in your home life or your personal life, your hobbies, dreams and aspirations.
3. The third self is your financial life. That includes your portfolio, retirement savings, investments in real estate, stocks, bonds, and other asset classes.
At Physician Empowerment, we want you to address all 3 of those selves. It’s not simply good enough to focus on one aspect of your life and ignore the other ones as they all affect one another.
