Everyone needs a multivitamins ?
Not exactly.
Not everyone needs multivitamins. It depends on their diet, health status, and lifestyle.
When multivitamins can help:
- People with poor or restricted diets (e.g. very low calorie diets)
- Vegans/vegetarians who may lack B12 or iron
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women (specific prenatal vitamins)
- Older adults with reduced absorption
- People with documented deficiencies
When they’re not necessary:
- If you eat a balanced, varied diet
- If you have no confirmed nutrient deficiencies
- If you already meet your needs through food
Important note:
Multivitamins are not a replacement for healthy eating, and taking them “just in case” doesn’t always add extra benefit—and sometimes excess vitamins can be unnecessary or even harmful (like fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K in high doses).
