Just a little rant im tired if how broken our mental health system is. I have taken people who want help but also have an addiction they get seen and are told sorry we wont help you until you get rid of the addiction. Sorry to burst your bubble but some peopke are addicted because of past trauma so you need to deal woth the trauma/mental health to overcum the addiction not the other way around. This is unfair to those who actually want help and let me tell you there is homeless/ addicted people are trying to turn their lives around and your jist turning them away. Things need to change I understanf they are over worked and under staffed but isnt helping someone not kill themself by overdosing worth it? The governemnt needs to find a way to help woth the mental health crisis to many people are dying. The premier needs to get off his damn high horse and do something right for a change.

Something I have been looking into and I think it would be a benefit here in Saint john and anywhere in the province is a crisis intervention unit its basically a group home where you go for upto 7 days when in crisis to help get through it staffed by trained people to deal with mental health etc. There is one in Moncton and I have been there before and its a good setup This would help free up ER beds and take the strain off a little bit its not a complete fix but it helps and would benefit the people who see mental health at the hospital and are sent away even though they are in crisis. We all know the mental health system in the region needs work.

Things have been a little quiet here on the page lately we have been busy in the background working on projects and fundraising ideas.

Until your best friend at 16 years old texts you saying goodbye & you call the police to do a well check on them and the police barely save your friend(I’ll spare you the details), you won’t understand.
Until you walk in your bedroom to see your sister had cut herself because her heart was so broken, you won’t understand.
Until you see your own parent lose a parent to depression & struggle with depression themselves and pray they don’t end their life, you will not understand.
Until you lose your friend to su***de or find out kids you went to school with died by su***de, you won’t understand.
Until you’ve had to talk your friend out of killing themselves, you won’t understand.
Until you’ve been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, or ptsd, you will not understand.
Until you’ve sat in your bed and cried alone for hours, planning the way to end your life you will not understand.
Until you’ve had to go to mental hospitals, because you’d rather be dead than alive you will not understand.
Until you’ve had to talk yourself out of su***de, YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND.
