✨ IMBOLC: A Threshold of Light ✨

As the wheel of the year turns, we arrive at Imbolc, the sacred midpoint between winter and spring. A time of awakening, of seeds stirring beneath the earth, of light returning.

Imbolc invites us to honour the divine feminine, the inner flame, and the whispers of new beginnings. This is a potent time for clearing, blessing, and deep listening—to ourselves, to the land, and to the unseen realms.

As a relational somatic therapist, craniosacral practitioner, and soul guide, I feel the resonance of this moment in my work. Imbolc calls us into gentle renewal, into tending the spaces within where light is longing to return. It’s a time to soften into deep rest, sacred embodiment, and the quiet power of presence.

Ways to honor Imbolc:
✨ Light a candle to honour the flame within
✨ Take a ritual bath infused with herbs of purification
✨ Sit in stillness and listen for the seeds of your next becoming
✨ Call back parts of yourself ready to return home
✨ Receive bodywork, journey work, or a soul-tending practice

May this threshold be a portal to healing, clarity, and renewal. May you trust the light within as it grows. 🌙💛

How are you honouring this sacred time? Drop a 🕯️ in the comments if you’re welcoming Imbolc into your life.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It marks a day of mourning the vast and continuining impact of the Canadian Residential School system and working for and with our Indigenous community in finding healing and sovereignty. The legacy of Residential Schools and Canadian colonialism can’t be fixed by a single day, and the work is on us as settlers to hold ourselves accountable and keep pushing, learning and uplifting Indigenous voices every day.

I invite you to consider making a monthly or yearly donation to support the Indigenous Nations in the area where you live and work. You can also back Land Back efforts, both locally and at the broader state or provincial level.

Here in BC, on Songhees and Esquimalt territory, I contribute monthly to the Reciprocity Trust that provides direct financial support to local Nations in recognizing Indigenous land rights, and yearly to RAVEN, which funds legal defence funds for Indigenous Peoples in Canada to defend the rights and the integrity of lands and culture (donation links included in bio and stories).

If donating isn’t an option for you, I recommend reading through the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and finding one that resonates with you, and listening with open ears and heart to Indigenous community members who bravely share their stories, hopes and truth.

I hold all my Indigenous friends, family and community in my heart today and think of the survivors, the children who never made it home, and those meeting this trauma in the next generations. 🧡🍁🪶

With October approaching, I’m excited to share this amazing series of upcoming events. Starting on October 19th, Tracey Cooke and I will be hosting a series of 4 women’s retreats focused on reconnection to self and nature. The retreat will weave together a variety of practices and rituals grounded in modalities such as somatic therapy, yoga, and Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing). Our aim is to help guide you to your deepest truth and inner light. The 4 days will hold a variety of activities with each day focused on a different element of the journey, and will include things such as breath work, journaling, singing, guided journey, cold water plunges and more. We are so excited to embark on this journey and trust it will be a meditative, beautiful and collaborative experience.

If you’re interested in taking part in one or all 4 of the retreats, or are looking for more information, you can reach out to me at juliastolk@shaw.ca or Tracey at traceycook@shaw.ca. We look forward to seeing you there 🌸🍀.

Day #1 of the journey. Travelled over 24 hours and finally landed in Porto today. Feeling pretty jet lagged but not enough to keep us from exploring the city.

As I walked through the streets of Porto surrounded by the tiled beauty of its buildings and my son beside me, I felt big wells of tears swell. I couldn’t believe that I had actually made it! That for the first time in 8 years I was back to doing something I truly loved - traveling. Always healing ♥️

The next two days will be rest and Porto explore days with our Camino start planned for Sunday. I’ll keep you posted!

This summer, I had an amazing time with my 24-year-old daughter, Ella, and my 18-year-old son, Ruben. We decided to go backpacking to Bedwell Lake in Strathcona Park, inspired by Ella’s recent field study in Bamfield. Despite the challenging ascent, we made it to the lake together in under 3 hours - gaining over 400m in elevation!

We were relieved not to have encountered any bears despite the warnings. And also enjoyed swimming in the lake, sleeping under the stars, and even having coffee in the morning.

Already looking forward to our next adventure!

What is the benefit of integrating both somatic inquiry and biodynamic craniosacral therapy into our sessions?

Somatic Inquiry – a way to connect with the deep wisdom of your body and strengthen your capacity to trust in its guidance.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy - a trust in your body’s inherent wisdom to heal.

I began integrating these two modalities early in my BCST career. At first, it was simply a way to engage the client with their mind and body through the invitation of intuitively offered questions of inquiry into the present moment experience on the table. And over time, there was a noticing that this integration had grown into a practice; one of guiding the client to listen more deeply to their mind, body and spirit connection, allowing them to become more gently and honestly present.

What does a session of BCST integrating Somatic Inquiry look like? It’s an invitation to arrive more into presence, and slowly meet and begin to integrate the parts in you that have been abandoned, neglected or rejected, as you learn to love yourself through a gentle hands on approach with intuitively timed questions. This work is an invitation to meet, feel, hold and heal your wounds and negative self-beliefs. The negative core beliefs you may have about yourself, such as “I’m unworthy” or “the world is an unsafe place”; the beliefs that drive your unconscious behaviour, thoughts and feelings. The more unconscious and intense your negative core beliefs, the more this filter distorts your experience and prevents you from being able to discern the truth of a situation. Using a combination of intuition and inquiry and listening to the body’s inherent treatment plan, I can guide you using an energetic mind, body, spirit approach that helps you to come home to the beautifully perfected heart you forgot to see.

May and June have brought with them a range of milestones, gatherings and time with those I love most. I celebrated as my son went off to his highschool prom, and cheered when he walked the stage at his graduation! I’m so proud and excited for him, and can’t wait to walk the Portuguese Camino with him this fall. My beautiful and talented daughter celebrated her 24th year which included a visit to her old friend the mammoth at the BC Museum. I was also ble to spend a weekend away with lifelong friends recharging in the sun on Hornby. Thanks Lonnie and Zita. I feel so much gratitude to have so many beautiful people in my life who help me fill my cup, and have so much reverence for these moments in life marking new chapters!

These beautiful moments have filled my cup, reminding me of the importance of resourcing - finding those precious things in life that nourish and sustain us. Resourcing, a key aspect of both biodynamic craniosacral therapy and relational somatic therapy, involves recognizing and drawing from our inner and outer resources to support our wellbeing. It’s in these joyful, shared experiences that I find deep restoration and connection.

Sacred Circle of Sisters
New cycle begins next Monday, June 17th at 6:30pm

Are you wanting to connect with heart-centred women where you can be held and witnessed, where you can be seen and heard? Where you can remember your voice matters? Remember you matter?

Are you wanting to connect with women who sing together? Dance together? Walk in ritual and ceremony together?

Each circle is uniquely created as we explore an invitation to be present to our individually unique truths, vulnerabilities and strengths in a sacredly held container.

The circles will run for 6 consecutive weeks, each for 2 hours. Each circle will have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 participants, and each participant is asked to commit to the 6 week sharing circle cycle.

A special thank you to all the beautiful women who participated in the most recent cycle of the sacred circle - this picture was taken post-ceremony swim! Thank you for your time, vulnerability and commitment to this group and yourself 🩵

If you’re interested in joining the upcoming circle cohort, reach out with any questions or check out my website for more information!

This past weekend, I achieved a significant milestone by running my first 10km race in over 10 years at the Oak Bay Half Marathon! This accomplishment was the culmination of a 16-week training program with Frontrunners. I am incredibly grateful to the run leaders who guided us with expertise and encouragement, making each training session truly inspiring - crucial in preparing me for race day.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my team. The camaraderie and mutual support within our group were indispensable. We motivated each other, shared our progress, and celebrated every small victory along the way. It was this team spirit that kept me going, even on the toughest days.

A special mention goes to my running buddy, Beth. On race day, having her by my side was both comforting and motivating. We pushed each other, shared the excitement of the race, and crossed the finish line with a sense of shared triumph.

Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey. I look forward to keeping my running shoes laced.
