So often when people come to see me they say that they believe their pain is due to “poor posture” - if this is you, I’m here to tell you that this is most likely not true!
The body likes movement, and pain typically creeps up when we’ve been in one position, or have been doing a repetitive movement for too long. This is normal, and it doesn’t mean that what you’re doing is damaging per se. It’s not so much about being in a posture that’s “bad” and more about being in any one position for too long.
So please don’t feel like you have to sit up straight all day or walk around with “perfect posture” - there is no such thing - and that just sounds uncomfortable!
The onset of pain can be one way that your body tries to communicate to you - often to ask for some kind of change. What is your body saying, and why is it saying it?
