Though traditional talk therapy has its benefits, it can often feel very emotionally hallow.

As a therapist who specializes in trauma and anxiety, I recognize how crucial it is to work with the mind-body connection in order for a client to feel true, long-lasting healing. ❤️‍🩹

In my approach, I offer somatic therapy and EMDR - two interventions that recognize the mind-body connection and its importance in processing.

✨I work with clients all the time who have been in talk therapy for years, found it helpful, but now feel that they have plateaued in their healing journey. They come to me searching for something more profound. ✨

I help people find true, deep, and long-lasting healing by working from the “Ground Up” (yes that is where my practice name came from 🥰)

Hypervigilance is a constant state of heightened alertness as if you are waiting for something bad to happen.
Often described as “walking on eggshells” or “waiting for the other shoe to drop”

It can feel so exhausting to never be able to let your body relax, AND it doesn’t always have to be like this ❤️

I’m a therapist who specializes in trauma and anxiety.
I offer EMDR and somatic therapy, two of the top interventions for working with Hypervigilance.

✨I help people feel safe again and learn how to let their bodies feel calm. ✨
✨I help people process memories or trauma that contributes to their body’s always being “on” and feeling the need to protect them✨
✨I help people feel safer with themselves and in relationships✨

Do you find yourself aware of your wounds, patterns, and triggers—able to pinpoint where they come from—but still feel stuck in those same patterns?

I get it.

As a trauma and anxiety therapist, many people come to me for support after spending years in traditionally talk therapy and still feeling stuck in their ways.

✨Though it can be super helpful to develop self-awareness and understand your triggers and wounds, it does not necessarily make them go away.
✨Learning to challenge anxious thoughts through talk therapy can also be helpful, but there’s often a point where it stops being enough. Despite knowing how to challenge our anxiety, it doesn’t always ease the feeling.

Here’s why: triggers are the result of unprocessed memories that are stored in your body. When you’re triggered, it’s like your body believes you’re reliving that past experience all over again. Your brain shifts into survival mode, turning off the thinking brain to focus on protection. That’s why, even when you logically know you’re safe, you still feel overwhelmingly unsafe.
You’re triggered. And your body is simply doing its best to protect you.

The key here is understanding that feeling safe isn’t just about knowing you’re safe—it’s about your body truly experiencing that safety. This is why, sometimes, all the logic in the world can’t help when you’re anxious.

In my practice, I use EMDR and somatic therapy because I believe in working with the body to heal the mind. I also believe in healing from the “Ground Up” (hence why this is the name of my practice😉). When we process those early experiences and the memories stored in our bodies, it can make a world of difference in how we respond to triggers today.

Overthinking is a sign of a dysregulated nervous system.

Next time you find yourself overthinking, try tuning into your body and letting yourself sit in that uncomfortable sensation for a few moments.

When we listen to our body, we quiet our mind 💛

Talk therapy can help, but it’s not always enough to heal trauma.

More holistic approaches like EMDR and Somatic Therapy are best for healing trauma as they tend to both the mind and the body.

I see clients so often who come to therapy looking for a “tool” to make their anxiety magically go away.

✨The truth is✨: there is not one tool that will solve your anxiety.

Anxiety is often a product of emotional suppression over years that gets stored in the body. The only way to make the anxiety subside is by truly sitting in it and feeling it.

Therapy allows you a safe place to truly process heavy emotions that you may have been avoiding for years.
Once you let yourself feel, the emotion can get released from the body.

It takes time AND it works ❤️
