Is your child struggling to get a good night’s sleep?? 😴💭

Neurofeedback might be the game-changer you didn’t know you needed for your child. By helping your brain learn to chill (hello, alpha waves 👋), it can reduce stress, improve deep sleep, and help you wake up actually rested.✨🧠

Curious if it’s right for your child? Learn more about how this science-backed therapy could support your sleep journey by taking a look at our most recent blog article “Can Neurofeedback Improve Sleep Quality?” or visit: https://calgarychildpsychologist.com/can-neurofeedback-improve-sleep-quality/ 🌙💤

Think psycho-educational assessments are just for kids or for diagnosing mental disorders? Think again!

These assessments go beyond tests and scores – they help identify learning strengths, challenges, and offer personalized strategies for growth. Whether you’re a student, adult, or professional, they provide insights into cognitive abilities, learning styles, and even emotional or behavioral needs. Don’t let common misconceptions hold you back from understanding your true potential. ✨

🌱 Supporting Your Child Through Therapy 🌱

Starting therapy can be a big step for your child, but as parents, your words and support make all the difference. Here are some ways to help your child feel empowered, understood, and safe:
1️⃣ Normalize therapy as self-care, just like a check-up at the doctor.
2️⃣ Show your support: “I’ve got your back!”
3️⃣ Encourage open communication without pressure.
4️⃣ Empower their autonomy: Therapy is their space to grow.
5️⃣ Reassure them: It’s okay to feel nervous—therapy works through tough emotions.
6️⃣ Highlight the positive outcomes: “Excited to see you grow stronger!”

If you’re considering therapy for your child, we’re here to help.💙Reach out to RMPS for an intake session, and let’s take the next steps together. ✨

What you’ve missed during October here at Rocky Mountain Psychological Services…

We had a productive month here at RMPS! Cassandra kicked off the month by hosting two very successful courses,
- WISC-V Administration
- WISC-V Report Writing
We loved to see all of the psychologists and psychologists in training come out from all over Alberta!

We ended off the month with our inside out themed staff potluck for Halloween where staff enjoyed yummy snacks and Halloween fun

Looking forward to see everything November brings…

As a child psychologist, I’ve observed 4 foundations that contribute to a nurturing and supportive home environment:

1. Open Communication 👥: They foster trust by actively listening and engaging in meaningful conversations. They also have healthy ways of dealing with and addressing conflict.

2. Consistent Routines 📝: They provide security with regular routines and and predictability such as when the family eats together, when chores are done, or bedtime routines.

3. Authenticity and Kindness 🧡: Parents modeling authenticity and kindness as well as looking for the positives in their interactions with family members and others helps children to learn to develop deep and real relationships as well as feel safe and supported.

4. Quality Time Together 🏡: Parents strengthen family bonds with shared activities and intentional moments. Sometimes it isn’t about spending more time - it is about being fully present in the time that we do have with others that makes all the difference.

These foundations help to create a healthy home for your child’s growth and well-being.
