✨ What an inspiring day! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the 2025 Health Care Forum last week.
From Jann Arden's powerful keynote, to the eye-opening Menopause Chicks with Shirley Weir workshop, to the announcement of our new partnerships delivering midlife health support – we moved the conversation on women’s health in the workplace from awareness to action.
Together, we explored how workplaces can break stigma, embrace evidence, and create environments where women in midlife not only stay, but thrive.
Thank you to all leaders, advocates and changemakers who joined us. 💡 The message was clear: supporting women’s health at work isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s essential for building stronger, more inclusive organizations.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take pause to honour the survivors of the residential school system, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities.
As BC’s health benefits society, we have a responsibility to help address health gaps and improve access to equitable care, as the legacy of residential schools and systemic inequities continues to impact Indigenous communities today. We strive to achieve this through our partnerships, DEI initiatives, and support for local, Indigenous-led health and wellness programs.
To support reflection and learning for our members, plan sponsors and providers, we’ve partnered with the First Nations Health Authority to develop an Indigenous Awareness elearning module, which is completely free to access and share: pac.bluecross.ca/company/diversity-equity-inclusion/

Some common medications affect your body’s ability to regulate your temperature – which can increase your risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in hot weather.
This is not a reason to skip or stop taking medication that is important to your health. Instead, have a plan in place to help you stay cool during the heat wave.
Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation is proud to support the work of amazing charities like Hope Air, increasing accessible and inclusive care for British Columbians. We couldn’t do this without our plan members!
You can read more below about Hope Air’s incredible work providing free travel, accommodation, and meals for Canadians in remote and rural communities who need to access vital medical care far from home.
After Siersha was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, her family faced long and frequent trips from Sicamous, their rural community to Vancouver for the specialized care she urgently needed. With appointments requiring multiple in-person visits, travel quickly became overwhelming, until they discovered Hope Air.
Thanks to Hope Air, the family's multi-day drives became 48-hour round trips by air. This vital support allowed them to focus on Siersha’s care, not the stress of travel.
This support is made possible thanks to partners like Pacific Blue Cross, dedicated to improving health outcomes across British Columbia. As a not-for-profit health benefits society, Pacific Blue Cross is committed to lifting communities up by supporting organizations like Hope Air that work toward a more accessible, inclusive, and equitable health care system. Their investment helps ensure families like Siersha’s can access the care they need, no matter where they live.
set a new record this year! 550,000 menstrual products collected through the month of May for distribution in the community.
Reports in recent years have shown startling numbers when it comes to period poverty in BC:
⚠️ Half of people who menstruate have struggled to buy period products.
⚠️ 1 in 4 have had to sacrifice these items for other essentials such as groceries, a bus pass to get to work, or baby formula.
United Way BC is on a mission to end period poverty in our province. Pacific Blue Cross, in partnership with CUPE 1816, is proud to have supported the campaign this year with a gift donation - as well as the $6,800 raised through our team members' efforts.
