Halfway through summer - are you still moving strong?

In early June, one of our longtime patients came in after tweaking her calf during a casual soccer game. A super active human, she lives for the outdoors - trail runs, dog hikes, spontaneous beach volleyball.

She knew if she didn’t deal with it, a small setback could derail her entire summer plans…and fall marathon goals.

Luckily, instead of pushing through, she came in for a full movement assessment with Miranda, an /A Team physiotherapist.

What they found:

1. A mild calf strain
2. Limited hip and ankle mobility impacting running
3. No dynamic warm-up or cooldown

Their game plan?

✅Targeted strength work
✅ Mobility drills for hips and ankles
✅ Neuromuscular control drills to improve ankle stability
✅ Simple warm-up routine designed to keep customized to her lifestyle
✅ Return to Play program for marathon training

Meet Aliya! 👋🏻

Aliya initially came to Ascent when she was pregnant and concerned about her pelvic floor, and some knee/leg pain.

Aliya worked with both Natasha (PT) and Tenille (RMT), who have helped her conquer her mountain by helping her regain strength, decrease her pain and help her in the healing and recovery process.

We are inspired by Aliya’s hard work and so happy she found connection with her practitioners at Ascent. 💚⛰️🏋🏻‍♀️

Our Story

Our brand and vision are inspired by the people who love to move and push boundaries outside. We know everyone will encounter mountains in their life and we want to inspire the sense of adventure and grit it often requires to face these inner and outer landscapes. We know there are valleys between peaks and embrace these lows as part of the journey. We believe the team you surround yourself with is the biggest determining factor of conquering your mountain.

The clinic has been providing natural, expert healthcare in downtown Calgary since 1918. And we expanded to our second location in Capitol Hill in the spring of 2020. We believe we are a model for integrated health care delivery, emphasizing preventative medicine and individualized care. Everything we do for our patients is guided by our passion to help people overcome their physical mountains and lead healthy and pain free lives.
