The simple transformation equation is incremental change that is applied consistently overtime. The result = what you practice you become.

The result of a balanced mind stems from continuous, conditioned practice. Practice conditioning the mind toward beautiful thinking. Practice conditioning the body for stress release to hold higher energetic mental-emotional currency. The result = the ability to remain a grounded presence in the throws of life’s daily demands and a more balanced you in body, mind and spirit.

Did you know that all life IS relationship? If you did, is it actualized in your life, how are you taking care of your relationships, what is relational inequality, and what does all of this look like in practice?

There is a beautiful indigineous saying that reads, "all my relations." I remember the first time I heard it, it struck me. It was beautiful, yet, I didn't fully understand what it meant, I just knew I liked it.

In tonight's Advanced Meeting for Instill VM grads we will bring this age old adage to life and explore it in our own lives, how it relates to our formal meditation practice, and to our eyes-open practices.

Let me know in the comments below which relationships need tending to in your life 👇 for me I’m currently working on my relationship with discomfort.

Have you explored breathwork before?

Breathwork has the profound ability to shift your state, strengthen the immune system, detoxify the tissues, as well as build stamina in the nervous system rejuvenating the whole body.

It’s one of my favourite practices, that I particularly love to do before my regular meditation practice.

If you are curious to learn more, I’m co-teaching an active breathwork meditation workshop this Sunday, March 20th with my dear friend Stephanie Nosco at Junction 9 and there are still a few spots left.

Tickets are $45 + GST
Time 3:00-5:00pm

Are you looking in the "right" direction?

Attention is your greatest currency, yet most likely you aren't using the power of your attention, you are being used FOR your attention. From marketing companies, subliminal messaging to something as simple as a 'like' on your social media platform, you are being used for your attention.

In a world where there are hundreds, if not thousands, of things vying for your attention in any given moment, knowing where to look is pivotal when it comes to your experience of life and exercising this important muscle is the most radical act of self-care you can undertake.

This Sunday, March 13th tune into our Knowledge Meeting & Group Meditation and learn how to Attune Your Attention to harness the greater good.

Happy International Day of Women🙌

In honour of today, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate one of the most special women in my life - Amy Thiessen] 💛

Amy is not only a dear friend, she is an amazing teacher, coach, healer, musician and Vedic Meditator with us at Instill!

Amy is founder of In Resonance Coaching and has 2 amazing programs I want to introduce you to: Embodied Voice and Connected Communication (which launches March 14th)!!

I participated in Amy’s Embodied Voice program last spring and I enjoyed every minute of it, even though I cried throughout most of it 😂Her program has helped me build a more connected relationship with my voice, and as a result, with myself on a deeper more authentic level.

Speaking out and using my voice has been very challenging for me over the years, and manifested in weird ways like interrupting (still working on this one), being a know it all, attention getting, fawning also known as “people pleasing” and saying yes when I really meant no or vice versa, to completely shutting down and dissociating in scenarios, especially larger group settings.

Amy’s course is rich, and I particularly loved working with the different archetypes of voice and seeing how certain one’s just needed to be matured within me. There is so much to take away from her and her course, and I’m still learning everyday how to embody and honour my voice everyday. If you want to explore your voice more, I highly recommend Amy and her program as a stepping stone. I know it will be incredibly valuable to you as it has been for me. When we not only face but embrace the currency of what is actually alive, present and arising within rather than ignore, make light of, or run from it, it clears the path for something new and fresh to come online. It allows for an even deeper truth hidden within to reveal itself.

During times like what is occurring presently in the news, my tendency is often to want to recoil or ignore… what can I do anyways?

One of my oldest and dearest teacher’s — a military veteran turned Buddhist reverend and now an amazing artist — voice echo’s in my heart: Look within and do your work! Face your own shadows. Look at your own tyranny within because that is the same hurt and misguided power that is passed onto others, it’s only a matter of degree.

The practice of meditation isn’t always easy, but it is simple. It reveals aspects of our self that we don’t always want to or like to see. That’s why it can be so intimidating or confronting at times. But it is an important part of the process that is very healing. In a moment of full embrace an inner stability of resource reveals itself that is always here, just often overlooked or forgotten.

Life still goes on even amidst the turmoil, despair and troubled weary heart. Today, I will not let my heart be hardened and choose to stay open to what is arising within. I will pray and continue to look within at my own misguided power and learn a deeper truth that can be used for a source of good for all those I encounter.

Try our Ayurvedic Warm Chai Smoothie 〰️ which has also been my favourite pregnancy drink to balance the nervous system, nourish the tissues and sustain my morning or afternoon energy. I drink this at least once a week and has become a regular staple in our home for years, even when I wasn’t pregnant during the winter months.

Plus research into eating around 6x dates per day once you reach 36-weeks helps to soften the cervix and prepare you for labour.

- 15 almonds soaked overnight, skins removed
- 2 medjool dates, pitted
- 20ish fennel seeds
- 4 cardamom pod seeds
- lots of cinnamon
- 2 star anise seeds
- pinch of nutmeg
- vanilla extract
- 1 heaping tsp of ghee or MCT oil (sometimes I use both)
- a scoop of good quality collagen powder
- 10 oz hot water
- 2 oz almond milk or coconut milk
Blend and enjoy! Garnish with cinnamon or nutmeg and crushed food grade rose petals if you want to be fancy 🌹

One of the most difficult aspects of meditation is teaching students how to reframe their practice.

Everyone wants to experience that pinnacle zen of what is considered “meditation,” but this is actually only 1 experience that can occur in practice amongst many others.
Although it feels good, I would assert it is actually the other aspects of practice such as mental processing (thoughts and images), sensations, and emotions that are more important because they are healing, which is why we spend an entire session learning about this in the course.

So the next time you catch yourself judging your practice, remember, there is no such thing as a bad meditation and only “thinking so” makes it so.

Self-referral is the action of looking at one’s own character, behaviour, and actions to gain information around a particular experience or outcome. It’s also the art of learning how to source your happiness and fulfilment from within rather than relying on a particular person, place, object or circumstance to provide that for you. One of the ways we can start to shift into self-referral is through the practice of gratitude. What are you grateful for surrounding a difficult situation?

The one constant that has given me the courage to get back up when I have fallen, face shadows, adopt a higher standard of excellence for myself, and see the good in others (including myself) is not a partner, not a job, not a family member, not a beloved furry friend, and not even a BFF — it’s been a consistent practice in Vedic Meditation! And I want you to have that too!

After a fall of wedding, moving, honey-mooning, and the welcoming news that we are expecting a little one to join our family in the Spring, we are delighted to now have some more upcoming opportunities on the roster for you to dive in and start a meditation practice. It’s the perfect timing to get ahead and start now with any New Year’s resolutions (research interestingly shows that when we start our resolutions before the New Year, we are more likely to stay on track) and to beat the holiday stress with a new tool at your finger tips to utilize.

These courses are intimate, with a cap at only 4-students per course, and they will fill up quickly. I have attached the course calendar of events below. I hope you'll join us!

Welcome to Instill Meditation!

One of my teacher's once told me not to consider whether or not this practice will change you, because ultimately we are always changing. Every moment of every day our cells are regenerating and turning over. The food you eat, the activities you choose to engage in, and the words you speak all have physiological, chemical, and biological effects on your mind and body. The real question my teacher posed, is in what direction will it change you - for the positive or the negative?

Meditation is ultimately a practice of ‘incremental change applied consistently over time’ and is most effective when practiced daily. In a similar manner to how a personal trainer motivates and educates you to begin a workout regimen, spending more time with an educated instructor while establishing a routine can enhance its effectiveness, allowing you to quickly access meditations profound benefits. In addition, as the demands of modern day living increase, many of us are searching for a sustainable way to manage our stress while still functioning at the top of our game. Enter meditation.

Meditation is a natural and effective tool that has been proven to reduce stress, enhance creativity, generate clarity and expand consciousness.

At Instill we provide a platform for you to become educated, confident, and self-sufficient meditation practitioners. Our approach is safe, relevant and relatable to both our modern lives and modern nervous systems, allowing you to experience the powerful benefits this age old technique has to offer.
