Community First

There’s a different kind of energy that comes from sharing knowledge in a room full of people who truly care about what they do.
It’s inspiring, it’s refreshing and keeps the future bright and hopeful.

We had such a great time connecting with the another amazing team. Being in a room full of passionate, like-minded professionals is the kind of collaboration that fills our cup and reinforces just how powerful community driven care can be.

Our Lunch & Learns are one of our favourite ways to build those connections.
When healthcare providers come together to share knowledge🧠and bridge gaps between specialties, the real winners are the patients and the communities we serve.
These conversations spark⚡️ideas, strengthen partnerships, and open the door 🚪 to more connected, collaborative care for everyone involved.

⭐️ Want to host one at your clinic?
Our Doctor Lunch & Learn sessions are available in-person or virtually and yes, we always bring the lunch (because good conversations are even better when no one’s hungry 🥪)

Your shoes aren’t one size fits all 👟
Your taste buds aren’t one size fits all 🥗🍱🍝
DON’T even get us started on your shower temperature 🚿🔥🧊
So why would your hearing aids 🦻🏼be?

Hearing loss is personal and specific to the individual. It shows up differently for everyone, different lifestyles, different needs, different goals. That’s why a “one size fits all” approach just doesn’t cut it‼️

At HLC, we believe your hearing care should be as unique as you are. From your very first visit, we take the time to truly understand your world, where you struggle, what you miss, what’s working for you, and what better hearing would mean to you.

Because the right hearing solution isn’t just about technology… it’s about you 🫶🏼

We don’t do cookie cutter care, as a matter of fact that’s the one cookie we don’t subscribe to!

You know that moment when you definitely heard👂🏾… but also didn’t? 👀🫰🏽

Here are a few signs your hearing might be trying to tell you something:

• “Everyone mumbles these days” 🤨
• Turning the TV 📺 up just a little more, and more… and more
• Smiling and nodding in conversations you didn’t quite catch 😅
• Struggling in restaurants or group settings
• Asking people to repeat themselves (but only sometimes… right?)

The thing is, hearing loss is often gradual. Most people don’t notice it right away. ( or they do but then ignore it for an average of 7️⃣ years)

But your brain does 🧠. Your relationships do. Your energy levels do.

The good news? It’s one of the most treatable health concerns out there.

If any of these felt a little too relatable, it might be time for a check.

📍Book a hearing test, your future self will thank you.

National Puppy Day🐾

Did you know that for many Canadians who are deaf or hard of hearing, support doesn’t just come from technology, it comes with four paws and a wagging tail? 🐕🐕

Hearing assistance dogs are highly trained service animals that help their handlers navigate the world with greater confidence, safety, and independence.
These incredible dogs are taught to recognize and respond to everyday sounds that many of us take for granted like doorbells 🔔, alarms, phones📱 or even someone calling their name.

When a sound occurs, the dog alerts their handler, often by gently nudging them and leads them to the source. From fire alarms 🚨 to a baby crying, these alerts can be life saving.

But their impact goes far beyond sound detection.

✨ More than a service—they’re a lifeline
Hearing dogs provide:
- Increased independence and awareness
- Enhanced safety at home and in public
- Emotional support and companionship
- A boost in confidence and overall well-being

Many handlers describe their dog not just as assistance but as a true partner in daily life🐕‍🦺 ❤️👂🏾

Thank you to organizations like who pair dogs with people who need them 🦮

Everyday is national puppy day if you’re asking us‼️

The Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy & Her Hearing Loss Journey 🩰🦢

Sara Mearns is the first principal dancer with hearing loss in the New York City Ballet. In 2025, appointed her as their new global brand ambassador.

Known worldwide for her power, artistry, and musicality. Sara has performed leading roles in iconic ballets like Swan Lake and George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.

Sara is using her platform to break stigma, raise awareness, and remind others: hearing loss doesn’t hold you back it just means finding a new way forward🦻🏼

Untreated Hearing loss can take the best you have to give and leave you feeling alone and isolated. Letting the stigma and fear get in the way of all the blessings and beauty that life has to offer.

———
Sara shared with some sentimental and heart touching memories from the first shows she did with her hearing aids.

While performing Diamonds in Copenhagen in 2025, she described an emotional turning point.
“I went on stage, and it felt like everything made sense. I could hear every single instrument in the orchestra, and I didn’t have to rely on my partner to know when to walk out. It was almost overwhelming for me on the stage.
Afterwards, I remember going to my dressing room and crying my eyes out. This is the start of a new chapter, and I don’t have to worry anymore.”

In another ballet, Mearns heard the footfalls on stage and the orchestra. She even heard someone’s costume backstage.
“I laughed a little bit on stage. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can hear their costumes.”

“I had a mother come up to me recently after a screening that I was at, and she said, ‘Thank you so much for talking about this. Because now my son feels like he has a path. That he has a chance.’
I was like, ‘He absolutely does.’ I just want all students, even professionals, anybody, to realize that this is not something that’s gonna hold you back at all.”

“This is such a huge community that I feel very honored to be part of. I want to help people and I want them to feel good and I want them to feel empowered in the way that I feel. I hope it works.”

“ Are You Busy?”
“ Are You Still Busy?”
“Ohh hey, I was wondering”
“ do you happen to know..”
“Can I pick your brain for a sec?”
“ Are you on the phone?”
“‘Are you stillll on the phone?”
“ Can you take this call?”
“ Can you help with this…”

What would we do without 🤯🫣 Let’s never find out🙏🏼

🍀Happy St. Patrick’s Day🍀

Between the clinking glasses, Irish jigs, and your friend who suddenly thinks they’re in a live concert, your ears might be doing some heavy lifting today.

So here’s your friendly reminder:
👂Protect your leprechaun-level listening skills💚🍀

🍻Keep the cheers, not the ringing.

🎶And maybe don’t stand right next to the speaker 🔊,unless you’re trying to hear voices from the other side of the rainbow 🌈

Let’s be HONEST, the only thing that should be buzzing tonight is your social life, not your ears 😏
So if you do wake up tomorrow hearing a faint “eeeeeeee”, that’s not luck, that’s your ears asking for a little HLC (get it HLC/TLC)
