What’s a Note in Aromatherapy?

Essential oils can be layered in a blend, according to top, middle, and base notes, just like in perfumery! Here’s a quick breakdown:

Top Notes – These oils are light, bright, and the first you’ll smell. They lift your mood and evaporate quickly. Think: Lemon

Middle Notes – Known as the “heart” of the blend, they bring balance and body. Think: Lavender

Base Notes – Deep, grounding, and long-lasting. These anchor your blend and help it linger. Think: Vetiver

Blending all three can create a well-rounded aroma that unfolds over time.

Rose can be a wonderful, uplifting oil that may be beneficial for the skin. Emotionally, rose can help to open the heart to new experiences when one has been emotionally hurt.

Get to know Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis var. decumbens)

A middle note essential oil that is used for respiratory blends and cleansing.

Hyssopus officinalis var. decumbens:

- Has been used to spiritually cleanse spaces
- Anti-inflammatory, may ease muscle and joint pain
- Respiratory Support, may ease the respiratory system, may be helpful for cough and bronchitis
- Double check the botanical name with your supplier, as hyssop officinalis (without using var decumbens) contains different chemical components with safety concerns.
