Sometimes the most loving thing we can do… is simply make space for the fact that we aren't feeling loving in the moment. 🌱

Not all flowers blossom at the same time
and neither do our kids

Some are loud and fast
they hit their milestones early
they shine in a way that’s easy to see

Others take their time
they move slower
they grow quietly
but they’re still growing

Just because your child isn’t walking yet
or talking as much as the others
just because they’re not reading like the kid next to them
doesn’t mean they’re falling behind

It means they’re doing it in their own way
in their own time
and that is more than enough

There is no perfect timeline
no race
no gold star for who gets there first

Every child is unfolding in the way they’re meant to
and comparison only makes it harder to see the magic in your own kid

The popcorn will still pop
even if it’s the last one in the bag
and your child will still shine
even if it looks different than someone else’s

Trust the timing
Celebrate their now

While I’ve been germinating seeds under lamps these first couple of months of spring, the weeds in my garden boxes have been multiplying. When a slow morning slipped into my schedule and the sky was bright, I knew it was time! I stole away to loosen the soil and remove the weeds in my garden boxes. Earth mama is always working her magic, and I was delighted when many wee sprouting surprises greeted me there.

These sunflower seeds, intended for our feathered friends, were whisked by strong spring breezes. These seeds, intended to nourish others, were rehomed where they received the nourishment from which seedlings emerged. What is that nourishment? It’s soil, moisture, warmth, light, and seeming stillness. It’s also the culmination of past nurturance that influences the quality of the seed itself. The joy of witnessing these little life miracles in unexpected places never ceases! We, too, come from nature, and we are composed of the elements of nature. What is your relationship with the qualities of nurturance and nourishment? I know you extend these qualities to others with a generous hand and heart. What is the quality of your seed? Is your seed nourished adequately to sprout a strong, steady, and vibrant seedling? Is it in a season of rest and regeneration? Is it somewhere in between?

I would love to share restorative yoga with you, a practice of inner nurturance through quietude and safe stillness. Restorative approaches to yoga are softer and slower. And while your system rests, much is happening, subtly, beneath the surface of your experience. Please join me if you feel compelled to explore nurturance and nourishment.

If you happen to be staying close to home this long weekend, I welcome you to join me on Sunday at 151 Main Street at 10am.
