Taking a few weeks away from my to-do list at home and enjoying my to-do list in Italy and on a Mediterranean Cruise. I have lit a few candles and said a few prayers in the beautiful churches of Bologna. I have enjoyed walking 18,999 steps with my better half, taking in the sights, history, and food of Bologna. Counting my blessings of research medicines, incredible support, and my hope, faith, and resolve to live life to the fullest. Cancer does not define me, I do! Ciao, off to the Port City of Raveanna tomorrow. 🇮🇹⚓

Thank you to my Canadian friends, family, and community members for participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure! These events have made this day, traveling to Italy, possible through research. Although there has yet to be a cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer, there are drugs that enable me, with healthy lifestyle choices, not only to survive but to thrive. I look forward to gathering together a team for next year to educate and bring awareness to not only breast cancer, but also to the women worldwide who live with metastatic breast cancer.

Celebrating my 40th Homecoming this weekend! ✨
I am so thankful for the advances in researched treatments ( and for all participating in the Run for a Cure) and the lifestyle changes I’ve embraced that allow me to be here, celebrating with friends and classmates.
Looking forward to our 50th reunion in ten years with gratitude, hope, and determination to keep rising!

Breast cancer affects 2.3 million people each year. Many are living with MBC or have been diagnosed with MBC. In RISE, I encourage women who don't have a supportive group to seek support at their local hospitals or join groups to ensure they are not alone.
There are many online communities that provide safe spaces to:
✨ Ask questions and share knowledge
✨ Talk openly about fears and concerns
✨ Celebrate small wins and milestones
✨ Mourn losses together with understanding hearts
No one should journey through BC or MBC in isolation. Reach out, connect, and find the support you need.🙏💚💙🩷

Day 2 of Breast Cancer Awareness.

“Only about 13% of breast cancer research funding in recent years (2014–2020) has focused on metastatic disease, the breast cancer that ends lives.” MBC Alliance

Thankful that MBC funding increased from 7 percent from 2000-2013 to 13 percent from 2014 - 2020. MBCAlliance

Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) is the breast cancer that spreads beyond the breast, and it is the breast cancer that ends lives. Up to 30% of women first diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will later develop MBC.

We are given October 13 to honour MBC, but it deserves awareness and action every day alongside the pink. Let's start the conversation today, focused on increased education, funding, and support.

At my book readings and presentations, I share the message that living with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) is about more than survival. It is about creating awareness, educating others, and opening conversations that are too often left in silence.

Together, our voices and stories help the world better understand MBC and the urgent need for education, especdially for breast cancer survivors, support and research. 🌸
