How do you speak about your body? why does it matter?

Have you ever looked in the mirror and had a thought that was not so nice about your body? "man I have gained weight" or "look at how big my butt has gotten" or "im alot bigger than I used to be" Did you know that the thoughts and things we think about ourselves can influence how we treat our bodies?

Think about it, how much easier is it to over eat, indulge in that treat or postpone getting some exercise when you're already thinking negatively about yourself and speaking badly to yourself about yourself? We absorb our thoughts and they can translate into actions.

You may not be where you want to be as far as how your body looks or even how you feel, but how can you change the thoughts you speak about your body to help you change how you treat it? For example, "Ive been hard on this body in my thoughts and my actions, what do I need right now to feel healthier?"

By the way, over exercising or excess dieting is another form of self punishment and are even forms of unhealthy addictions towards your body. Both forms of unhealthy treatment generally stem from the root of the thoughts we have about our bodies or ourselves.

Challenge: How can you have thoughts about your body with positive compassion that drive healthier lifestyle decisions for your body?

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit"-1 Cor 6:19
