-Monarch butterflies can smell with their antennae.
-They can taste nectar and water with sensory hairs on their legs and feet.
-They can travel more than 2800 miles from the southeast Canada and northeast US to the mountain forests in central Mexico.
-The average butterfly flaps its wings around 20 times per second, but monarch butterflies flap their wings a bit slower, at around 5 to 12 times a second.
-They are poisonous. They eat poisonous milkweed during their larval stage, which in turn causes predators to vomit if they are consumed.
