Celebrating Autism Awareness Month 💙

Our team came together to wear blue and show our support for the autism community. It was a wonderful chance to connect, raise awareness, and celebrate neurodiversity.

We’re proud to support Autism Ontario (legally incorporated as Autism Society Ontario), a charitable organization with over 50 years of experience representing individuals with autism and their families across the province. Autism Ontario is a leading source of information and support, helping ensure that autistic individuals and their families have access to meaningful services and connections throughout their lives.

If you’d like to contribute, we’ve included a fundraiser link below. Every little bit helps in supporting families and promoting inclusion.

🌟 Highlighting Our Team Members: Meet Marlee, our Course Coordinator! 🌟

🏫✏️ Career Journey
Marlee began her career in cosmetology, dedicating 15 years to honing her craft—an industry she continues to work in today. Along the way, her curiosity led her to explore various creative fields, earning online accreditations in Feng Shui, Interior Decorating, and Event Planning. Her passion for helping others inspired her to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBSP) and later provide respite relief in foster care for children during COVID-19. This experience inspired her decision to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Work, where she graduated with President’s Honour Roll. She has completed several successful field practicums in both residential and community settings. Today, Marlee serves as the Course Coordinator for the Boiling Point and Brain Defender programs, continuing her mission to support and empower children/youth.

💭Unthinkable Is...
"Definitely a Brain Eater! 😜 I get distracted SO easily by the tiniest things and need reminders to use my classroom strategies, haha!"

🚦Her Current Zone:
“My current zone is blue. I didn’t sleep great last night, I’m feeling extra hungry, and my energy is lower than usual. I could probably benefit by eating a snack or taking a walk.”

🪴 What Calms You Down?
“Lately, the Mel Robbins podcast has been a lifesaver during my long drives to work. If not her, then walking my dog, listening to music, going to the gym, or reading a good book.”

💡Fun Fact:
"My dog and I share a unique bond—we were both internationally adopted! I was adopted from Romania, and she was rescued from an overseas meat market. I watched her arrive live on Facebook when she stepped off the plane. I’ve always wanted to adopt, but I never expected to find a similar sense of fulfillment through a dog. She’s honestly my pride and joy."

💪 Her Motivation:
“My main motivation is focused on self-improvement and growth. While I find inspiration in others, I've learned that cultivating motivation within myself is essential. I do this by setting realistic goals, holding myself accountable, and prioritizing self-care in my daily routine. I’m deeply grateful for the support I do have and often remind myself of the grace of simply being human."

✨ Favorite Part of Coordinating:
"I love creating a positive work environment and finding joy in working with the people around me. But what I love most is seeing the growth of our clients. I’m the lucky one who gets the privilege of presenting the final graduation certificate. I feel incredibly proud of the kids who walk through our doors and truly honoured to be part of their journey."

🌟 Highlighting Our Team Members: Aliesha 🌟

🏫✏️Career Journey
Aliesha launched her career after earning a double major in Psychology and Criminology from Western University in 2022. She worked at The Beer Store’s customer contact center (2021-2023) and has been a server since 2020. In November 2024, she joined our office as an Evening Admin and has since transitioned into a full-time administrative role. She also holds a Micro-Credential in Mental Health Awareness Care.

💭Unthinkable Is...
D.O.F: Destroyer of Fun! Aliesha is highly competitive (in a friendly way). If you challenge her to Mario Kart, be prepared—she doesn’t take losing well!

🚦Her Current Zone
Green – Feeling chill, ready to work, and in a good headspace.

🪴 What Calms You Down?
Working out, eating good snacks (gluten-free!), and hanging out with my dog.

💡Fun Fact
She has been to Disney World 30 times! Her love for going to Disney World began when she would visit 2-3 times a year as a child.

💪 Her Motivation
"Striving to be the best version of myself, growing in my career, building a strong foundation for my future, and keeping Mani (my dog) happy and well-fed."

🖥 Favorite Part of being an Admin?
“I enjoy being everyone’s point of contact and collaborating as a team. I love participating in team discussions and gaining valuable insights into the field of psychology."

We're so lucky to have Aliesha as part of our team here! 🤩
