Have you heard people say this before? Sounds cliché, right? But pause for a second… it’s true. Every single rough day, every meltdown, every “I can’t do this” moment—you’ve made it through. We’re big fans of when actions actually match words. Why? Because your brain is too. 🧠💥

When someone’s actions back up what they say, your brain releases oxytocin (the “trust & bonding” chemical) and dopamine (the “feel good” reward). Together, these create a biological response that cements safety in your body. Translation? Consistency = security. Way cool, right?

☀️🍂 The last long weekend of summer is here ... and with it comes all kinds of feels. For some, it’s sunshine, BBQs, and lake days. For others, it’s the heaviness of endings, tricky family dynamics, or just plain exhaustion.

This week we’re exploring a powerful question:
👉 Do you struggle with or identify with hyper-independence?

Hyper-independence is when you feel the need to handle everything on your own—rarely asking for help, even when you truly need it. While independence is healthy, being overly self-reliant often comes from past experiences where trust or support felt unsafe. Over time, it can leave us feeling isolated, burnt out, and disconnected from meaningful support.

💡 If you connect with the examples above, try this small step:
Next time someone offers you help, pause before saying “no thanks” and practice accepting even a small gesture of support.

✨️Therapy Thoughts Tuesday ✨️

Let’s be honest—none of us are walking around nailing it 100% of the time. Missing the mark? Totally human. Yet so often when we do, our brain loves to drag us into the shame and blame cycle. (You know the one: “Why did I do that again? I should know better by now.”)

Here’s the thing: in therapy, one of the biggest indicators of growth isn’t whether you never stumble—it’s how you treat yourself when you do. Spoiler alert: you will miss the mark sometimes, because therapy and change aren’t about perfection. They’re about progress, practice, and choosing compassion over criticism.

🫶 Therapist Tip to Try: Next time you notice yourself spiraling into self-criticism, pause and ask: “If my best friend came to me with this exact situation, what would I say to them?” Then—say that to yourself. Out loud if you’re brave. (Yes, it will feel a little silly. And yes, it works.)

Progress is made in those tiny, compassionate moments. That’s the real healing work. 🖤
