Mental Health Week begins today.
This year’s theme, Come Together, Canada – Stronger Connections, better mental health, highlights the powerful role social connection plays in improving well-being.
Social connection is essential to mental health, yet many people are feeling alone. In Canada, millions of Canadian youth, adults and seniors say they feel lonely often or always.

This week, we’re inviting Canadians to take small steps toward connection — whether it’s reaching out to a friend, joining a community event, or simply starting a conversation.
Because when we come together, we strengthen mental health for everyone.

Conversations with our national colleagues are an important part of how we are working to shape mental health for the better.

Connection and collaboration. When we come together, we can make a difference.

Great to connect with a fellow 'Saskie' voice here in Ottawa today,
Rosemarie Falk.

We had an important conversation about how critical non-market housing is to supporting mental health across Western Canada, and the growing need to strengthen our health human resources so people can access care when and where they need it.

Thank you for the thoughtful discussion and shared commitment to stronger, community-based mental health supports.

Also grateful to be joined by my colleagues, Mara Grunau & Laurence Rivard, in this conversation.

Schools are powerful spaces for connection, belonging, and support.
The Mental Health Week Teacher Toolkit provides educators with resources and activities designed to help students explore the importance of social connection and its impact on mental health.
Loneliness affects hundreds of thousands of young people in Canada. In fact, 17% of youth report feeling lonely. Creating supportive classroom environments, where students feel connected, can make a meaningful difference.
