honestly I cannot wait until we can be near each other again. I know there is a lot of discussion around the vaccine and our freedom ray tay tay; but you know what I grew up eating McDonald's cheeseburgers and those are absolutely poisonous. I was also vaccinated for things like Hep B, and measles. As far as I'm concerned I've definitely injested some type of poison at some point in my life for a good time - so I will be taking this vaccine if it means I can have a good time with my friends again. 🤷🏾‍♀️

this is how my brainworks.

I obviously don't like the tactics of the government - but some folks that are anti vaxxers are loud, out here in the streets but treat their bodies like s**t everyday. make it make sense.

debaters... Go! 😭

The idea of perfection really doesn't exist, furthermore it's a real nuisance. It can prevent us from stepping into practices that may benefit us, it can block us from trying something new, or even discourage us from completing something we've started.

but when we make proficiency our goal well allow ourselves room to fail, to be imperfect, to celebrate all the little steps, and most importantly to enjoy the process.

If we can continue to show up to practice (any practice), even in the moments where we feel blocked or stuck and simply do our best over time we will notice we have built up a fine level of proficiency. a capacity, a strength.

and thats enough.

I see you bb, growing everyday and I'm proud of your small wins!

Yesterday I wrote a post describing the physical sensation that I was experiencing around the one year anniversary of the death of Breonna Taylor... and friends it was not easy.

I cried for nearly an hour uncontrollable, I had to allow sensations that were so uncomfortable it felt unbearable, I had to be still, I had to move, I had allow the space for the emotions to run through me.

when the bigger sensations started to pass there was a space left in my body. Although I still feel heavy and drained today, there's space. In this space I can work...

the only way passed it, is through it and I wish that you all have the courage to show up for yourself, to show up for your healing, no matter what it may be.

happy Sunday beloveds

8 Years ago I graduated from 200 YTT and at the time I didn't even want to teach yoga or movement I was just so deeply inspired by the teachings. If I'm to be honest it was one of the best and worse experiences in my life. I loved all the things that I was taught; but there was something missing, I felt invisible, I felt unseen, I felt that many people were so privileged to leave their jobs and take months off to just study. I was the only black women in the room, and 1/2 women of color.

Yoga teachers simply didn't look like me ...

today years later I am filled with excitement for how the culture has changed and return again as a faculty member! This evening we make room to observe ourselves, our history, how we came to be at this particular time in history and how we may come together to share ideas for creating a more equitable world.

Let's Go! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
