Dr. Khaled El Emam, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, is one of the leaders of the FORTIFY project, an ambitious international initiative in the field of secure medical data sharing and privacy protection. FORTIFY brings together more than 60 scientists, technologists and policymakers from around the world to harmonize the sharing of medical data across different regulatory frameworks.
The project could significantly improve how health data is accessed and used for research across countries. By enabling more consistent and scalable access to data, the project could allow researchers to work with larger and richer data sets, helping them identify patterns, test new ideas, and accelerate discovery.
Dr. El Emam was chosen to participate in this major project due to his expertise in synthetic data and privacy-preserving technologies.
