What is NAD? Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)

NAD is a coenzyme that repairs and restores the body and mind. It helps the liver break down fats that are essential to provide energy for the body. It also helps create ATP, which is a major source of energy for the cell. NAD maintains the DNA integrity and reverses cell damage.

Benefits of NAD IV Therapy include:
🧠 Brain Health
🧬 Anti-aging
🔋 Increased Energy Levels (decreased fatigue)
🦠 Metabolic Function

When NAD is given in an IV, it goes straight into the bloodstream and cellular tissue. This allows for almost 100% absorption of NAD and a mix of complimentary vitamins, because nothing is lost to digestion).

To learn more about NAD, and see if this therapy is right for you- book an appointment with me, Dr. Heather van der Geest, Naturopathic Physician

Prolotherapy is indicated for soft tissue injuries (i.e. ligaments, tendons and joints) and involves injecting the damaged area with dextrose (sugar) and procaine (anaesthetic) to help promote local inflammation which helps the body stimulate the natural healing cascade and tissue healing.

If you have questions about whether Prolotherapy or Regenerative Injection Therapies are right for you, book an appointment with Dr. Heather van der Geest, ND.

Regenerative injection therapies are a great way to help promote self-healing, and can help prevent or delay the need for surgery. It can even be used after surgery to help with speeding up the healing process and strengthening weakened ligaments

Top 5 reasons you’re not losing weight 👉👉👉

✅ Underlying food sensitivities- foods you are intolerant to don’t properly get digested, absorbed or assimilated into energy. They get stored more often as fat, and cause inflammation and digestive concerns. Your gut microbiome and digestive function are vital to weight loss.

✅ Hormone Imbalances. The delicate balance between estrogen, progesterone and Testosterone ( your s*x hormones) with your cortisol levels ( your stress hormones) is the foundation for weight management. Elevated estrogen and low Testosterone are a primary culprit for weight gain or inability to lose weight. As is adrenal dysfunction or dysregulated Cortisol levels ( think abdominal midsection weight gain)

✅ Insulin Resistance or elevated blood sugar levels are one of the more common reasons for weight gain. We need to address underlying blood sugar regulation if we want to address metabolic function and diet changes

✅ Thyroid Imbalances. Optimal thyroid function ensure optimal metabolic function. Thyroid is affected by stress, and its function is also dependent on cofactors and nutrients that need to be supported if we’re working on weight loss. Synthroid alone is definitly not the answer

✅ Adequate muscle mass- ladies, lift those weights. The more muscle mass you have, the more metabolically active you are at rest. Not only that, the more growth hormone and testosterone your body makes which in turns supports metabolic function. Muscle is your metabolic engine that will keep you burning calories all day long
.. of course there’s more than just 5 top tips. But these are a perfect place to start.

repost from Don’t believe us? Here are some more facts:

🍽️ The most recent data from the Association of American Medical Colleges says that MDs/DOs get an average of 19.6 total hours of nutrition education throughout their 4 years of medical school, however this ranges from 0-70 hours depending on the program.

🥗 Licensed naturopathic doctors get from 100-220 hours of nutrition education. This includes not only clinical nutrition knowledge, but also drug-nutrient interactions.

🌺 There is no standard for MDs/DOs to learn botanical medicine or how to identify drug-herb interactions. While some medical schools may provide some context via elective courses, this is not required. This is especially important with increasing numbers of patients resorting to natural health products in conjunction with their conventional medical treatment.

🌿 But what about functional medicine doctors? Functional medicine is not considered a standalone area of medicine. These are practitioners who obtain an additional online certification, while NDs have this education built into their curriculum with in-residence clinical supervision.
