Please welcome our new female chiropractor, Dr. Tessa to the Dennis Chiropractic team! 👋

Doctor Tessa was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. She grew up playing a variety of sports, as well as being involved in theatre productions. She did her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge, and continued her studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College to get her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Tessa has a passion for helping people and has an interest in pediatric and female care. Through extra courses, Dr. Tessa is certified in integrated dry needling acupuncture. She is looking forward to working at Dennis Chiropractic, treating patients of all ages, and getting people back to a pain-free lifestyle. 

Dr. Tessa will be joining us in our new location at the start of December!

The cortex is disrupted at the distal metaphysis of the proximal phalanx medially, and extends into the diaphysis.

We are often asked how medical or electro acupuncture works,
so we thought we would explain:

Acupuncture has been used for over 3000 years but has always been under skepticism by the medical community.

Recent studies now suggest that electro-acupuncture induces analgesia or relief of pain by the release of endogenous opioid peptides, a class of neurotransmitters.

Opioid peptides are small molecules that are naturally produced in the central nervous system and in various glands throughout the body, such as the pituitary and adrenal glands. These peptides produce the same effects as classic op**tes, such as morphine and codeine, modulating the perception of pain.

Endogenous opioid peptides that serve as hormones are secreted into circulation by the producing glands and are delivered to a variety of distant target tissues via the blood where they induce an analgesic response.

In short, electroacupuncture releases these naturally occuring endogenous opiods that act like taking a pain killer, on top of increasing blood perfusion to the site of injury stimulated by the needle, encouraging healing and reducing the excitability of pain-sensing neurons. ⚡️

In contrast to op**te drugs, activation of the op**te receptors by the body's own endorphins does not contribute to the risk of addiction.
