We Make Excellent Care Personal Georgian Bay General Hospital is a 113-bed hospital with sites located in the municipalities of Midland and Penetanguishene.

Serving the communities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township and Springwater Township, we are located in historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of Toronto. Georgian Bay General Hospital offers services comparable to other community hospitals in the province - 24-hour emergency department, surgery, OB, inpatient acute, regional rehabilitation, Complex Continuing Care, outpatient clinics, X-ray, ultrasound, CT, ICU - supporting the general health care needs of our community. As well, Telehealth video conferencing services are available for consultation and education. Georgian Bay General Hospital serves a population base of 55,000, swelling to more than 200,000 for six months of the year. At our Midland site, services include 24-hour emergency department, inpatient medicine, obstetrics, general surgery, outpatient day surgery, diagnostic imaging (radiology, ultrasound, and CT scan), pharmacy, respiratory therapy, in-patient physiotherapy, ambulatory care, a 36-bed Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation Unit serving patients from North Simcoe and Muskoka. Our Penetanguishene site is home to a nine-station dialysis unit as well as Hospice Huronia and the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre.

The GBGH Crew channeled their inner Raptor at our Swish Challenge this fall.

The winner made 13 free throws in a row, and took home the title of Swish Challenge Champion!

Clinicians know caregivers play a vital role in patient health and smoother care transitions, but many need more support to help them. Recently, GBGH clinicians and leaders partnered with the Ontario Caregiver Organization and North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatrics Services for a hands-on workshop focused on recognizing and supporting caregivers as essential care partners.

The session offered practical tools and evidence-informed strategies to help clinicians identify caregivers earlier and connect them to support—especially those most at risk of burnout or delayed transitions in care.

Les cliniciens savent que les personnes aidantes naturelles jouent un rôle indispensable dans la santé des patients et les transitions de soins plus harmonieuses, mais beaucoup d’entre elles auraient besoin d’un soutien accru pour les aider. Récemment, les cliniciens et dirigeants de l’HGBG ont formé un partenariat avec l’Organisme de soutien aux aidants de l’Ontario et North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatrics Services pour offrir un atelier pratique axé sur la reconnaissance et le soutien des aidants naturels en tant que partenaires en soins essentiels.

NOTICE

On Tuesday, February 3rd, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, our CT Scanner will be undergoing necessary scheduled maintenance.

This maintenance is essential to ensure proper function and reliability of the machine moving forward. The rest of the hospital will not be impacted.

There is a comprehensive plan in place to ensure that all necessary care continues to be provided. In the event that a CT scan is required urgently, we have established protocols for redirecting and transferring patients to our partner hospitals to ensure they receive the necessary imaging promptly.

As always, we remain focused on patient-centered care. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Le mardi 3 février de 9 h à 19 h, le tomodensitomètre subira l’entretien systématique nécessaire.

Ces travaux d’entretien sont essentiels pour garantir le bon fonctionnement et la fiabilité de l’appareil à l’avenir. Les autres secteurs de l’hôpital ne seront pas touchés par ces travaux.

Nous avons mis en place un plan complet pour garantir que tous les soins nécessaires sont toujours dispensés. En cas de besoin d’effectuer un examen tomodensitométrique d’urgence, nous avons établi des protocoles de réorientation et de transfert de patients vers les hôpitaux partenaires, garantissant ainsi qu’ils reçoivent les services d’imagerie nécessaires en temps opportun.

GBGH proudly welcomed its first baby of 2026 on January 2 at 6:03 a.m. Natalie Kinder, a healthy baby girl, weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 19.5 inches.

Parents Laura and Sam Kinder of Port Severn are thrilled with the new addition to their family. Both mom and baby are happy, healthy, and resting comfortably.

L’HGBG est fier d’accueillir le premier bébé de 2026. Natalie Kinder, une petite fille en bonne santé, est née le 2 janvier à 6 h 03, pesant 7 livres, 7 onces et mesurant 19,5 pouces.
Ses parents, Laura et Sam Kinder de Port Severn sont ravis d’ajouter un nouveau membre de la famille. Maman et bébé sont toutes les deux heureuses, en santé et se reposent confortablement.
