🎉🌟 The Record Breaking Total is in! 🌟🎉

We were thrilled to welcome George, Bill, Wally, Ben, Jax & Crew to the Hospice yesterday as they stopped by to present the total funds raised from their incredible Badger to the Hospice walk back in June. 👟

Their heartfelt journey - step by step from Badger to Grand Falls-Windsor - was a powerful show of support for compassionate end-of-life care, and we are so moved by their continued dedication to our mission. Their efforts raised an amazing $11,248.00, a contribution that will directly support our residents and their families.

👏 Thank you, George, Bill, Wally, Ben, Jax & Crew, for going the distance for Hospice care. Your commitment reminds us all of the power of community, compassion, and taking action for a cause that matters. 💙💚 See you all next year! 🙌

🎨 A Capstone Project from the Heart ❤️

Yesterday, we were honored to welcome Avery Kelly, a 2025 graduate of Exploits Valley High and the granddaughter of our namesake, Dr. Lionel Kelland, as she completed and presented her high school capstone project to us at our Hospice.

From the moment Avery reached out in October, we knew her creative vision was something special.

💬 Avery shared:
“I created this piece for the hospice named in honor of my grandfather, these paintings are filled with hidden meanings special to my family — the lion for Lionel, the insects assigned to each of his four grandchildren (including myself), and the star in the letter ‘A’ representing every holiday card or note left by my grandmother, reminding us of him, the brightest star in the sky, watching over us.” 🌟

Avery’s vibrant and uplifting artwork now lives in our Family & Children’s Play Space, bringing light, color, and positivity to families navigating incredibly difficult moments.

A heartfelt thank you to Avery, her mentor Krista Simmonds, and her Mother, Jill, for helping bring this beautifully meaningful contribution to life. Thank you for sharing your heart and talent with us. 💚💙

🌟 Young Heart, Big Impact! 🌟

We are beyond proud to recognize Alyssa Pardy, our youngest Hospice volunteer, for organizing a Horse Riding Camp fundraiser this June in support of our mission! Yesterday, we had the joy of meeting Alyssa and the “Queen of the Barn” at Adventure Stables to receive the funds raised from her event.

Alyssa poured months of hard work, planning into making the camp a success and what a day it was! With the help of incredible volunteers, supportive mentors, and community partners, the participants had an amazing day while raising funds to support compassionate end-of-life care.

🐴 In Alyssa’s words:
“I'm so happy I could raise money for Lionel Kelland Hospice, it was such a privilege to have the ability to make a difference, all whilst having fun and doing something I love and am so passionate about."

Thank you Alyssa, for your compassion and initiative, and for showing us all that you’re never too young to make a difference. 💙💚

🍪 Hugs from Jessie – A Legacy of Love in Every Bite 💚💙

Yesterday, our kitchen was filled with the sweet scent of homemade treats and heartfelt memories as we welcomed Krystal and Geraldine - two cherished family members of the late Jessie Billings, the beloved namesake of our Hugs from Jessie volunteer baking program. Joined by Erica, our Care Team Administrator, and with generous support from the Billings Family, they spent the day baking in honor of their incredible mother and grandmother.

Through this meaningful program, volunteers create homemade treats - from classic Newfoundland favorites to warm cookies—that bring comfort and joy to our residents and their loved ones. Every batch is made with heart. ❤️

🙏 Thank you to Krystal, Geraldine, and the Billings Family for your time, generosity, and continued support of this beautiful legacy. Jessie’s spirit of kindness lives on in every sweet bite.

🌲👟 Tiny Hikers, Big Hearts! 💛🌟

We are sending a BIG thank you to the amazing students, families, and staff of Forest Park Primary, who continue to show incredible support for our Hike for Hospice! 💚

This heartfelt Kindergarten to Grade 3 school is in its 3rd year of hiking and has raised $2,243.00 this year for Hike, bringing their 3 year total to over $7,100 to support the compassionate care offered at Lionel Kelland Hospice. 🎉That’s no small feat for such little feet! 🥾✨

We were thrilled to stop by today to say thank you in person and celebrate the kindness and generosity of this wonderful school community. Your support means the world to us, and your compassion is making a difference! 💚💙

🎉 Giving Back in Celebration! 🎉

As Hickman Automotive Group celebrates 120 years of automotive excellence, they’re giving back to the communities they proudly serve — and we are honored to be part of that legacy.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Craig Ellis, Business Manager at Hickman Chevrolet Buick GMC Clarenville, who generously nominated Lionel Kelland Hospice as a charity of choice in honor of his late father, Verd.

Craig shared how much it meant to his family to have a space where they could be fully present with their Dad — a place that offered dignity, comfort, and grace during those final days. His gratitude was deeply felt in our conversation, and his kind words about the care we provide remind us why this work matters so much. 💙💚

Thank you, Craig and the entire Hickman team, for recognizing the importance of hospice care and your continued commitment to community. Your support helps ensure families receive the care and compassion they deserve. 🙏
