Hi everyone,

I’ve been volunteering with the BeaYoutiful organization for the past 7 years. They provide free mental health workshops for girls ages 8-14 all across Canada. I’m fundraising to help them continue to provide these workshops for free.

With your help, I'm hoping to raise $1000 in order for Taylor to continue to provide free mental health and mentorship resources for our next generation! By making a donation, you will directly help support young girls through their confidence journey.

How you can help:

1. Donate directly here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/support-beayoutiful-foundation-ride-confidently (you get a tax receipt!)
2. Share on Social Media
3. Come do a spin class at Hype Cycle Club with me on Sunday, March 2 at 11:45am. The lovely co-owner, Melissa, has kindly offered to teach the class. It will be a 40 min class, and perfect for beginners. It's going to be a lot of fun and you get to see me sweating my butt off, plus you get to support a good cause. 100% proceeds from the class will go directly to the BeaYOUtiful Foundation. More details to come in the following week.

With the changing of the seasons, comes a new beginning. I have always looked at Fall as a fresh start. The leaves change colour, it starts to get cooler in the mornings and evenings, the kids are back to school and we get back into a routine.

So with that said, it is time for me to say goodbye to MamaBear Holistic Care. I have been a Nurse for almost 25 years. Most of my career has been spent helping and supporting Mamas, babies and their families in the hospital and then in their homes navigate labour, delivery, breastfeeding, sleep and postpartum. It has been an incredible journey and I am truly honoured to have played a part in couples becoming parents, and supporting them through the early stages of parenthood.

Although this decision was not an easy one, it was a long time coming. I couldn't have done it without the support of my husband and son. They helped me create MamaBear and were my biggest cheerleaders the past 5 years ♥️ .

My last day of taking new clients is Friday, Aug 30. After that, I will continue to provide support for existing clients. This account will stay active for the time being, but I will transition to using my personal account. You can find me .

Thank you to all those who supported me and my business the past 5 years. I have met some amazing Mamas, families and healthcare professionals.

To new beginnings 🥂. I can’t wait to see what new adventures this beautiful universe will bring.

Much love,

Agnes- The MamaBear ♥️

2023 has been quite the ride for me both personally and professionally.

It has been the busiest year yet for MamaBear Holistic Care. Thank you to all those who refereed your Mamas and Babies to me. And most importantly thank you to all those families who trusted their care with me ♥️

To all the Mamas and families that I worked with this past year... I know how challenging being a new Mama and parent can be. I also know how hard it is to not compare your journey with others. Social Media is really bad for that. All you see are the perfectly curated photos, especially from influencers. Life isn't made up of perfectly curated photos, it is a holy mess a lot of the times. All your journeys will look different and that is ok. That is what life is about. It is a big, beautiful, messy journey.

I even fell into the comparison and "influencer" trap. 2022 was an especially hard year for me and my focus for 2023 was my mental and physical health. This is why the past year, I've posted less... and focused more on my mental and physical health.

I don't know what 2024 has in store for me, but what I do know is that I will embrace it with love, grace and curiosity.

Mamas, I wish for you a 2024 that is filled with happiness, laughter, beautiful adventures and for the world, much needed peace.

So this happened today. Aiden's Grade 8 leaving ceremony 😭. A lot was asked of him the past 3 years... To start middle school in the middle of a pandemic was honestly insanity! Although the past 3 years were filled with many challenges, it was also filled with a lot of fun adventures, and the making of new friends and memories. He may have started middle school at a very challenging time, Greg and I couldn't be prouder of how much he has overcome and the beautiful young Man he is becoming ❤️

14 years ago, at exactly 0409, this beautiful soul came into this world.

And it's also the day I became a Mama ❤️

The past 14 years have been filled with so many beautiful adventures, where do I even begin. We are so blessed that he shares Greg's and my love of books, travel, food and fancy drinks, Disney, Harry Potter, Start Wars and most importantly our love of Shania Twain.

Being your Mama, Aiden, is truly the biggest blessing in is this world. I love you so much and am so proud of the beautiful person you are becoming, inside and out.

You have taught me what it means to love unconditionally, to know what true sleep deprivation means and to be a better person.

So excited to spend the day having yet more adventures 💙

Happiest of Birthdays, my dear sweet boy.
Mama loves you more than you will ever know 😭 ❤️

I struggled with loving myself for most of my life. Truth is, that I still do… Loving who I really am because the world and the people around me told me that I was never enough.

I was watching a tv show last week and one of the characters had a breakdown. The therapist told her that she needed to love herself first.

Normally, I let what I see on TV go in one ear and out the other, but this time, it stuck with me, it made me think…

How many of us struggle with loving ourselves?

How many of us love ourselves first?

How can we be the best person, Mama, wife we can be if we don’t love ourselves, if we don’t love ourselves first.

It’s like the pilot says on the plane, you need to put your oxygen mask on first, because if you don’t, you can’t help those around you. Same goes for loving ourselves. If we can’t love ourselves, how the hell can we love others?

Mamas, I hear you and see you… ❤️

You are more than enough… ❤️

You are everything your baby and family needs… ❤️

But you must love yourself first!

Mamas, if you are looking for support, I know some amazing women that can help you, because we all deserve to love ourselves ❤️

I am fiercely protective of the Mamas that I work with, especially when they tell me that their concerns were disregarded/dismissed and were told that there’s nothing wrong by their primary healthcare provider.

Gaslighting women is not new. It’s been going on for centuries. Women being called hysterical, telling them that their pain is all in their head, that it’s nothing to worry about, that it’s all normal…

Now imagine being gaslit in one of the most vulnerable times of your life: becoming a Mama.

I hear it all the time from the Mamas that I work with that their healthcare provider dismissed their concerns about their baby, breastfeeding, and their mental well-being. Here’s an example of a healthcare provider that blamed the Mama for not being able to breastfeed her baby. This Mama wasn’t able to latch the baby, and it wasn’t from a lack of trying. Had the healthcare provider done a proper and thorough assessment of the baby, she would have seen that the baby had such a prominent tongue tie that it was making it impossible for that tongue to move properly and latch properly. This Mama endured pain for weeks and felt like s**t after her visit with the healthcare provider. She felt like it was her fault, because that’s exactly what the healthcare provider said. She told her that it’s her fault that she can’t latch or breastfeed her baby. This is unacceptable! During my visit, the husband told me that his wife cried for days after that visit and blamed herself. It wasn’t until my visit, where I did a proper and thorough assessment, that I found the tongue tie and made the appropriate referral and plan, and spent time discussing with the Mama that it was never her fault. The healthcare system failed her. Her healthcare provider failed her.

Sadly, this is not uncommon. I see it all the time with the Mamas that I work with. Healthcare providers dismissing the Mama’s concerns, because baby is gaining weight, despite the Mama triple feeding for 3 months!!!! Or when Mama’s say that the latch hurts and are told there’s nothing wrong and to just suck it up. Or better yet, dismissing the Mama when she brings up her concerns that the baby may have a tongue/ip tie despite Mama/baby having latch issues/supply issues.

Honestly, I could lose my mind when I hear stories like this. And I am hearing more and more stories like this. The damage that this does to a Mama is life long. It causes a trauma that the Mama carries with her for possibly her lifetime… Mamas, it is not your fault. It never was.

The job of any healthcare provider is first and foremost to listen to the Mama’s concerns, acknowledge those concerns and do their best to address them. It is not their job to dismiss, discount, gaslit, ignore, judge or blame the Mama. Second, it is their job and responsibility to provide the best care possible and many times that means referring the Mama to another healthcare provider, who is better trained to help this Mama. Healthcare should be collaborative, because no single person can provide all the support and tools the Mama needs.

Mamas, if your healthcare provider is gaslighting you, dismissing you, ignoring your concerns, it’s time for you to find a new provider. If you live locally, in the Tri-Cities or the Lower Mainland, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. If you don’t live locally, I provide virtual support and/or can help you find a healthcare provider that will listen to your concerns.

Gaslighting needs to end, especially, the gaslighting of Mamas!

Welcome to MamaBear Holistic Care

I am a Mama, Wife and Registered Nurse. I’ve worked in Labour & Delivery for over 13 years. After having my son in 2009, I realized how lonely, frustrating and overwhelming being a new mom can be. And if I felt that way, with my experience, I can only imagine how other new Mamas felt.

My philosophy behind MamaBear Holistic care is to guide you in whatever part of motherhood you are in; to work with you, your needs, your concerns, your lifestyle to help make being a Mama easier. My role is to provide you with all the information and support you need in order to make the best decision for you and your family. My purpose is to serve you so that another Mama never feels as lonely and overwhelmed as I did.

We are not meant to do this Mama thing on our own. I am here to HELP!

Agnes (MamaBear)
