Team Brave #EndStigma
For the past four years, we have been staying up all night in support of mental health with the help of our community partners. We started with just a few people at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, last year we expanded to a second location at the Pickering Recreation Complex and this year we are doing our biggest event at the Pickering Town Centre in partnership with the CAREA Community Health Centre in Durham Region.
Over the years we have been overwhelmed by support from family, friends, colleagues and strangers who donated online and in person, stopped by our event to share stories, jumped on the bed and kept us company until the wee hours of the morning. It was hard to stay up for so many hours but it was worth it! It gave us a small sense of what someone with a mental illness may experience.
This year in Durham Region we will only be staying up until 9 p.m., so join us in person to share your story, sing a song, have a conversation or be present for someone else.
