If anyone is considering getting into the equine assisted world of health and wellness...I HIGHLY suggest looking into taking the ProEFW certification. Their indepth trainings offer students ethical and supportive experiences during and after the certification process...no matter what background the student is coming from profession wise. When I did my training and certification....I looked into many programs and I kept coming back to ProEFW because of the fact that they acknowlege horses (well all equine) as sentient beings. In all the training stages, they honor the horse's thoughts and feelings when interacting with people, almost like a partner, vs having them just be learning tools. As a person who is sensitive to all animals and how they are feeling and what they are needing...it just made sense that I did my training with an association that believed in that too!

Jenn and I are the service providers for these family programs and we have a few spaces left in each of them!

The program focuses on supporting and developing resilience in families who may have children struggling with mental health concerns. Each day the parent and child pairs will get to participate together in some experiential activities in nature and with our healing herd of horses!

Shared from a friend of mine...so very true!

Gillian: Create a thinker not a desensitized robot through learned helplessness. This makes so much sense. We train dogs to make good decisions for humans (scent dogs, dogs for the blind, support dogs) so it only makes sense that horses can be asked to do this as well, all while maintaining as much of their autonomy as possible.

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to remind/let you know of an opportunity where you can get some hours towards the client practice, mentorship, personal growth as well as the horsemanship cross-training hour requirements, all while developing your facilitation skills in one-on-one, small group and larger group settings.

The following workshop was created in response to the need for a place for individuals seeking a safe and fun place to gain some experience facilitating "clients" through partnering with other workshop participants. This is a great opportunity to work any nervous worries out or ask questions about how to create and facilitate meaningful sessions. If you are interested in joining in, please just send me an email with your interest.

THE ART OF FACILITATION WORKSHOP

Have you started or maybe even completed your Pro-EFW certification training and are looking for more support and practice with facilitating sessions? Or maybe you have wondered about offering group experiences, but are not sure what that could look like or how to run them? If so, then this workshop is for you!

During this one day workshop, we will explore more about the world of facilitation and how to be more effective in one-on-one, small group and full group settings.

Participants will get an opportunity to develop and practice skills in a fun and safe environment through a variety of experiential activities.

Some of the topics that will be introduced and explored further are:

-Qualities of an effective facilitator
-Communication styles
-Various learning styles
-Items to consider when facilitating inside with and without horses (ie. classroom, barn area, arena area)
-Items to consider when facilitating outside with and without horses ( ie. Small paddock, round pen, larger paddock/pasture, outdoor arena)
-Individual program/session planning time and support (apply learned items to your own practice)

Certification of attendance will be given at the end of the workshop.

This was a first!

Myself, Carrie (Whispering Equine) and Jenn (Karuna Counselling) had the privilege of presenting at the 2023 Calgary City Teacher's Convention under our new business, The Foothills Wellness Collective...that was created through a collaboration of our two initial practices. It was so much fun 'team teaching' again and sharing time with such lovely and caring souls.

We are looking forward to many more opportunities to come!

My Aunt is fostering these puppies at our place...they are beautiful dogs, very sweet, smart, well socialized and ready to go to their new homes. Their pictures dont do them justice! Please pass on if you know of anyone who is looking for a great new companion.❤

Meet our adorable Shepherd mix puppies! They are about 9 weeks old and they are ready to move into their FUR-ever homes now. They are good to go to a home with dogs, cats, and kids. They are working on house training. NOTE: Final size and breeds cannot be guaranteed as the mom is a Shepherd mix and....
