Komyo ReikiDo 光明靈氣道
The meaning of “Do”
The word “Dō” (道) literally means “way” or “path” in Japanese. It is often used to describe a lifelong journey of spiritual or disciplined practice.
More than just technique, Dō represents a spiritual path, a way of cultivating inner harmony, awareness, and character through dedicated and mindful practice.
Japan has many traditional arts and disciplines that embody this principle:
• Aikidō 合気道 - the way of harmonizing energy
• Budō 武道 - the martial way
• Bushidō 武士道 - the way of the samurai warrior
• Judō 柔道 - the gentle way
• Kadō 華道 / Ikebana 生け花道 – the way of flowers arranging
• Karate-dō 空手道 - the way of the empty hand
• Kendō 剣道 - the way of the sword
• Kōdō 香道 - the way of incense
• Kyūdō 弓道 - the way of the bow (archery)
• Iaido 居合道 - the way of drawing the sword
• Naginatadō 薙刀道 - the way of the naginata (pole weapon)
• Sadō 茶道 - the way of tea
• Shodō 書道 - the way of calligraphy
• Komyo ReikiDo 光明靈氣道 - the way of Komyo Reiki
Every Dō is an entryway into inner transformation,
a path of stillness, awareness, and growth.
This is the path we walk as well. 🙏

As a Komyo ReikiDo Shihan or teacher, we are asked to only teach in-person. It is the energetic transmission from Teacher to student that re-activates the abilities of the student. 🙏

Calligraphy of the Chinese character for mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

"The Sanskrit word for mindfulness, smriti, means 'remember.' Mindfulness is remembering to come back to the present moment. The character the Chinese use for 'mindfulness' 念 has two parts: the upper part means 'now,' and the lower part means 'mind' or 'heart.' The First Miracle of Mindfulness is to be present and able to touch deeply the blue sky, the flower, and the smile of our child."
-Thich Nhat Hanh (The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching)

“Who would deny that when I am sipping tea in my tearoom, I am swallowing the whole universe with it, and that this very moment of my lifting the bowl to my lips is eternity itself transcending time and space?” ― D.T. Suzuki, Zen and Japanese Culture
