🧬 Transgenerational epigenetics explores how experiences, such as trauma, stress, and resilience, can leave biological traces that echo across generations. Rather than altering our DNA, these experiences influence how our genes are expressed, shaping emotional and behavioural patterns over time.

⚛️For example, studies have shown that when mice associate a particular scent with pain, their offspring also respond to that same scent, suggesting that memory and learning can transcend generations (Dias & Ressler, 2014; Szyf, 2014; Welberg, 2014). Emerging research points to similar processes in humans, revealing an evolutionary advantage: the ability to adapt more rapidly to a changing world (Lowdon, Jang, & Wang, 2016; Yeshurun & Hannan, 2018).

🧬 This reminds us that healing is not only personal, it is ancestral and collective. When we heal ourselves, we participate in a lineage of transformation.

💭 Reflection question:
What patterns, strengths, or lessons do you feel you’ve inherited, and which are you consciously choosing to transform for future generations?🧬

🌿 Medicine is all around us 🌿

🍂 “Medicine is in every tree, plant, rock, animal, and person. It is in the light, the soil, the water, and the wind. Medicine is something that happened 10 years ago that still makes you smile when you think about it. Medicine is that old friend who calls you up out of the blue because he or she was thinking about you. There is medicine in watching a small child play. Medicine is the reassuring smile of an elder. There is medicine in every event, memory, place, person and movement. There is even medicine in empty space if you know how to use it. And there can be powerful medicine in painful or hurtful experiences as well.”🍂

💭 Reflection: What small moments of medicine have brought you comfort or joy recently? How can you invite more of these moments into your daily life?

Last weekend, I embarked on what I call a mini Camino. Since walking the Camino de Santiago, I often set out on long reflective walks, where I integrate life’s lessons and listen for guidance. With each step, I feel the Camino’s spirit within me, reminding me that I have the power to choose and to walk the path meant for me. ✨

This time, I walked 15 km and visited the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum, Vancouver’s oldest surviving building. Having endured fires and change, it holds stories of resilience. 🔥🏛️

Inside, I came across a flag created by Residential School Survivors. The eagle feather stood out , a reminder that the Creator’s spirit is with us, pointing upward as when one speaks Truth. 🕊️

On this Day of Truth and Reconciliation, I hold close the teachings of resilience, remembrance, and presence. 🌿

My Camino ended at Wreck Beach, where I released what I carried and stepped into the ocean, a cleansing, grounding act of renewal. 🌊

May we all walk with grace, remembering to pause, to listen, and to honour the truths that shape us. 🌿✨

💫For the past 4 years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of Woman Within International, a global nonprofit dedicated to helping women reclaim their power, wisdom, and authentic voice.

During this time, I’ve gone through a separation, career changes, health issues, and the many ups and downs of life like anyone else. I would not have been able to walk this path without the ongoing support of my Circle Sisters. Week after week, sitting in circle, being seen, heard, and witnessed, has given me strength not only to get through my days but also to guide and support others along the way, whether in my work or simply in my relationships.💫

The picture of this ammonite was taken in  El Torcal de Antequera Natural Reserve, in Spain.

💫 The wisdom of gathering among women of all ages, listening to elders and sharing lived experiences, has been profoundly life-changing.

✨ To be held in such a space is to remember that healing and empowerment are not solitary journeys, they are collective.

🌸 “Sometimes people just need to talk. They need to be heard. They need
the validation of my time, my silence, my unspoken compassion. They
don’t need advice, sympathy or counselling. They need to hear the sound
of their own voices speaking their own truths, articulating their own
feelings, as those may be at a particular moment. Then, when they’re
finished, they simply need a nod of the head, a pat on the shoulder or a
hug. I’m learning that sometimes silence really is golden . . .”☀️

✨ Leadership is about courage, connection, and creating spaces where people can truly thrive. ✨

I am excited to share a new chapter in my journey: pursuing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I am deeply drawn to neuroendocrinology and somatic approaches, exploring how our biology and nervous system shape our experiences and well-being. This learning complements my ongoing work as a Yoga Therapist and Holistic Wellbeing Practitioner, allowing me to integrate mind-body practices with evidence-based psychological approaches.
As Brené Brown reminds us, “Daring leaders work to make sure people can be themselves and feel a sense of belonging.”

This reflects my mission: to create bridges of connection that empower individuals and communities to grow, heal, and lead with authenticity.

Whether in the classroom, through my entrepreneurship, or volunteering in the Downtown Eastside with the Joy of Sharing Group, I aim to lead with empathy, integrity, and courage, creating spaces that feel like home.💫

Here’s to learning, leading, and lifting others, together.

✨ Un gentil rappel : l’énergie que vous mettez dans votre nourriture se ressent et se goûte!

✨I am remembering with gratitude my experience with the JFCNO two years ago. Being part of the culinary challenge “From the Field to the Plate” was inspiring, watching young participants pour their heart, creativity, and energy into nourishing dishes reminded me of how food is so much more than ingredients. It is connection, care, and love. It is transformative.

💛For the past four years, I have had the privilege of volunteering once a month with the Joy of Sharing Group in the Downtown Eastside. Each time, I witness again how creating and sharing a meal can bridge differences, create warmth, and remind us of our shared humanity.

This is at the heart of my mission and my vision:
🌱 to create spaces where ancestral knowledge and modern practices meet,
🌱 to cultivate nourishment for both body and spirit,
🌱 and to foster community through food, care, and connection.

Moments like these, whether in a competition kitchen or in community service, affirm for me that the energy we bring to food is the energy we bring to each other.

Doubt is an important component that helps us move from inaccurate to accurate understanding.

If we never have any doubts, we may remain stuck in an inaccurate understanding indefinitely.

That can be a real problem if that inaccurate understanding is related to our own personal growth and transformation. But doubt is a valuable component of personal growth so long as it’s not crippling.

When we encourage a sense of healthy inquiry, we open the possibility of growth.
