The Stollery Family Peer Support Program is looking for volunteer parents and caregivers who’ve had a child at the Stollery and want to support others on a similar path.

Having a child in the hospital can feel overwhelming. Talking to someone who’s been there can make a big difference. As a Peer Partner, you’ll support other families by listening, offering hope, and showing you understand.

Why Volunteer?
• Use your experience to help others
• Build confidence in supporting families
• Learn skills in compassionate communication
• Be part of a caring Peer Partner community
• Help others feel less alone

Whether it’s at the bedside, by phone, or in a group, your story and your heart can bring comfort to another family.

Take the first step in exploring if this could be a fit for you by joining us at training.

Training Dates: (choose whichever is most convenient for you)
Wednesday, July 23 from 8:30am - 4:30pm via Zoom
Saturday, September 13 from 8am - 4pm via Zoom

Contact us at StolleryConnections@ahs.ca for more information or to register.

Thanks to Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society, we're pleased to welcome DWW Pumbaa, the new Facility Dog at the Stollery Children's Hospital!

Pumbaa will be part of the Child Life team, bringing his PAW-esome supports to Stollery kids and their families. Over the next few months, Pumbaa will be orientating to his new hospital environment and building trust with his handlers. While you may spot him around the Hospital, please give him space as he adjusts to his new role.

Please join us in welcoming Pumbaa! 🐾💜

FUN FACT: Pumbaa loves stuffies! When not working, you’ll find him carrying one around in his mouth.

The Stollery's Child Life team is truly a game changer for kids in the Hospital.

Child Life Specialists play a crucial role in helping Stollery kids adjust to and understand hospitalization, treatment and illness. On top of that, they help create positive memories in a place that doesn't always feel positive for a kid.

Recently, the Child Life team has been hosting Edmonton Oilers watch parties for patients and families at the Saville Family Beach and Enchanted Forest — two non-medical spaces at the Stollery that are just about having fun. These watch parties bring a sense of normalcy, giving kids a chance to feel the community spirit of the Stanley Cup Playoffs while they're in the Hospital. 💙🧡💜

Thank you to Child Life for going above and beyond to make sure kids get to be kids at the Stollery!

An exciting sight for Stollery kids today, who were treated to a parade of race cars ahead of the Racing for the Cure event for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Kids gathered in the pedway, with the help of our amazing Child Life team, to cheer on the cars as they drove by. A big thank you to all of the drivers and to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for bringing it together.

Did you know some Stollery clinics have moved out of 1D1?

If you’re looking for the Adolescent Medicine Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, Edmonton Down Syndrome Clinic, Peds Endocrinology, or the General Pediatrics clinics, you can find them in the Aberhart Centre (11402 University Ave).

Located just south of the Kaye Edmonton Clinic, you can access Aberhart Centre off University Avenue. A small number of parking stalls are located outside the south doors of the Aberhart, or alternatively, parking can be accessed in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic parkade.

Our new space is warm and welcoming with the same Stollery teams you know and love. Speak to your care team if you have any questions about your next appointment or call the clinic number, which hasn’t changed: (780) 407-6370.

The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is creating a Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC), and they are looking for a diverse group of patient and family members who have lived experience navigating the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Patient and Family Advisors volunteers give their time to enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of health services from the patient, family, and caregiver perspective.
The council will start holding monthly meetings in January, providing a venue for Glenrose teams to engage directly with advisors and ensure the voices of patients, families and caregivers resonate throughout health policies, projects, and programs across the continuum of care.
Learn more about PFAC by contacting GlenrosePFAC@ahs.ca or call/text 780-886-5947.
