News Flash!!! Health Canada to fund study of Nova Scotia's new opt-out organ donor law. Early next year, Nova Scotia will become the first jurisdiction in North America to implement a presumed consent system for organ and tissue donation.

A private member's bill before the Alberta legislature wants to transition the province to an opt-out organ donation program — where adults are presumed to be organ donors unless they otherwise refuse.

Hopefully we can have the Opt-out system in British Columbia as well, and eventually Nation Wide! Feel free to share your thoughts...

The Liberal government in Nova Scotia tabled legislation Tuesday that would make the province the first place in North America to have presumed consent for organ donation. Under the proposed system, people who do not want to donate their organs will have to opt out.
