I'll be honest—this past year has tested all of us.
As a therapist, I don't just witness my clients' struggles with community trauma. I feel my own, too. From the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival attack to the recent school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, the weight of these events is real.
And here's what I've learned: our instinct to seek information is actually our brain trying to protect us. But when that information is charged with anxiety and graphic imagery, it backfires. We end up more exhausted, more fearful, and more helpless.
So how do we stay informed without burning out?
