Traditional red belt

The red belt used in Mexican traditional communities most of the time simbolizes protection. Since a belt is something you wear right in the center of your body, the red color helps you filter the energies that enter.

When you give some kind of healing or therapy is good to wear a red belt in order to "protect" yourself from the energy the person you are with might have.

When I give a post birth loving ritual I like to wear a red belt to remind myself that I´m only a channel of healing for that person, that I must not get emotionally engaded, because if I do that I will not be able to see things from the right perspective and thus, help properly.

DIA DE LA CANDELARIA

Today we celebrate "Dia de la candelaria" in Mexico. It´s a holiday to conmemorate the day in which Jesus was presented in the temple 40 days after being born. Candlemas (as it is called in English) is the day in which the candles that are going to be used throughout the year are blessed.

In Mexico we celebrate this day by eating "tamales", and usually with a cozy family gathering. The tradition is that if on January 6th (Dia de reyes "Wise men day") while eating the "Rosca de reyes" you got the little baby figure in your piece, you are the one who should buy tamales on Candlemas day.

GIFT CERTIFICATE

Do you want to gift someone something really special? How about a gift certficate for a delicious Post birth loving ritual?

Post partum care is what women need the most. Spoiler alert: yes balloons and flowers can cheer you up, but hands on help is always better. Prepare a delicous meal, do the laundry, wash some dishes, those are INCREDIBLE gifts.

And why not wrap it up with a gift certificate to have some pampering and close a wonderful stage.

I´m back!

So I´ve been away for a while now but I´m working on my new year´s resolutions. No, I didn´t have a baby LOL, but these past months have been a total roller coaster.
The end of this roller coaster was my daughter´s 5th birthday. This picture was taken 5 years ago the moment my older daughter was born. This was definitely a life changing experience.
I had a very difficult post partum (yes, as doulas we also struggle with breastfeeding, hormones, etc). But then I received a delicious post birth loving ritual from my beautiful midwife Doris.

Now I want every woman to experience this in their postpartum period.

DM me so we can arrange your appointment!

This is me...

Here I was, just moments after giving birth to my second daughter. I already knew what I was heading for. I had a very challenging postpartum with my first daughter. But this time was different, I was "armed". I had prepared everything.

What did I prepare?
- food service, prepared frozen food...
- help with cleaning in the house
- arranged drop offs and pick ups of my older daughter from kindergarten
- homeopathy, essential oils, candles, herbs, everything that would help me stabilize more easily and naturally.

And last but not least, I couldn´t wait for the moment I could get my post birth loving ritual. With my first daughter I had it a couple of months after birth, this time I was convinced that the sooner the better.

Prepare for your postpartum:
- hire a post partum doula
- plan your allies
- book your post birth loving ritual

Empowered postpartums make empowered moms.

"I can complain about motherhood and still love my children more than anything in the world.

I am allowed to vocalize how exhausted I am without having to justify.

I am allowed to be burnt out & touched out- even if I have a helping hand.

Because honestly, some days I feel like a robot that barely gets charged enough at night and gets up every morning to run the same exact course.

My simple daily tasks have me feeling like I’m moving through quick sand. Confined to these walls of doing. Doing what needs to be done. Over. And over. And over, again. For everyone around me.

Each day, feeling a little more numb than the day before.

I love being a stay at home mom, but I hate feeling trapped too.

I love taking care of my children, but I hate having no other purpose.

I love being essential to my household, but I hate that it doesn’t function properly without me.

I hate that whenever I get the chance to be away, my mind is still stuck at home- that mental load I carry never leaves me.

I’m always giving- my time, my thoughts, my body, my energy, my will.

And when I dare say I’m tired, I am looked down upon and judged and misunderstood.

Because apparently, a mother is supposed to be limited to this eternal vessel of giving. And although I would willingly give my life for my children, no questions asked, I still feel overwhelmed with exhaustion from time to time.

It’s gets heavy. And I am allowed to say that without feeling like a horrible mother.

I love them endlessly, but this load I’m always carrying, it gets heavy.

I can complain about motherhood and still love my children more than anything in the world. It doesn’t make me ungrateful."
