1.2 Himeji Castle(姫路城)
Himeji Castle is a Japanese castle located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Built in 1346, it has undergone repeated renovations and is now in its current form.
Major buildings such as castle towers and turrets built in the early Edo period, and are designated as Japanese national treasures, important cultural properties, world heritage sites, and the 100 Fine Castles of Japan. Also, it is known as Shirasagi Castle because of the beauty of the walls painted with white plaster.
3.4 Osaka Castle(大阪城)
Osaka Castle is a Japanese castle built in the Azuchi-Momoyama period and rebuilt in the Edo period. Along with Himeji Castle, it is also one of the three famous castles in Japan. In 1958, the castle tower made of steel framed reinforced concrete structure was reconstructed by the citizens of Osaka. Recently, the castle tower became a museum.
5.6 Goryokaku(五稜郭)
Goryokaku is a bastion-style castle built in the countryside at the end of the Edo period.
Only two years after it was built in 1866, the Edo Shogunate collapsed and became the home of the former Shogunate army. In the Meiji era, all the buildings were demolished except one castle. From 1914, it was opened to the public as Goryokaku Park , and since then, it has become a popular tourist destination that represents Hakodate as well as a place of relaxation for Hakodate citizens.
