Cross Roads Physiotherapy & Massage Therapy Open since 2009, we offer physiotherapy and registered massage therapy in Vancouver at West Broadway and Cambie St. We do direct billing to over 30+ extended health insurers. Our physiotherapists provide dry needling/IMS and acupuncture, manual therapy/hands-on treatment, customized exercise training and pelvic floor-related treatments. Our registered massage therapists (RMTs) work with clients dealing with muscle tension from stress, clients who have suffered from car accidents or other injuries, clients who are pregnant, and much more. Just a 15 min. walk north from the clinic is this view of False Creek from Cambie Street Bridge. Hope everyone is getting in their daily movement and soaking in the warmth and light of August. ๐Ÿ“Œ I love cycling. My favourite route is riding from Vancouver to Deep Cove in North Van. Nice scenery along the way, especially views of Burrard Inlet at sunset when crossing the Ironworker Bridge. Deep Cove is wonderfully quiet on weekdays. Perfect spot to take a break, stroll along the dock.

๐Ÿ“Œ I am a big supporter of local coffee roasters. For old-school espresso and espresso-based drinks I love Milano Coffee. For lighter coffee roasting profiles, such as for pour-overs, I often prefer Matchstick Coffee Roasters. One off-beaten path independent coffee shop that I really like is The Kop on Annacis Island.

The next time you feel anxious or tense for whatever reason, try doing a few cycles of box breathing.

This breathing technique is often practiced in yoga. It has the effect of slowing down your breathing, and calming your mind and body.

Give it a try! Hereโ€™s how:

1๏ธโƒฃ Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four seconds. Imagine bringing the air right to your lower ribs and to your belly. Keep your neck and upper chest as relaxed as possible.

2๏ธโƒฃ Hold your breath at the top for a count of four.

3๏ธโƒฃ Exhale slowly through your nose or through pursed lips over a count of four seconds.

4๏ธโƒฃ At the end of your exhale, hold it there also for a count of four.

5๏ธโƒฃ Start again with step 1. Do three or four rounds, or whatever feels comfortable for you.

Box breathing is a simple tool to relax yourself when you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Do it at your desk if your neck or shoulders are feeling tense. Do it in bed at night if you are having trouble falling asleep. It can be done anytime and anywhere. ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
