Viral Japanese cheesecake hack - Oreo thins edition⁣

Trying yet another version of this. Overall pretty good too but I still prefer the original lotus Biscoff one more.⁣
⁣
Some people online have commented saying this hack isn’t actually healthier than cheesecake but I disagree. If you’re just using plain (no sugar, no/low fat) Greek yogurt and a reasonable amount of cookies, it’s still less calories / sugar than a slice of cheesecake you’d buy at the store.⁣
⁣
And this hack is SO easy. So for those also saying you can make your own healthy cheesecake at home instead, I’d rather save the effort 🤣⁣

Viral Japanese cheesecake hack !! ⁣

Finally tried this new trend and it was a success - 10/10 would make again 👍⁣

I used lactose free, 0% fat, no sugar Greek yogurt and the original lotus Biscoff cookies. You can of course use other types of yogurt per preference.⁣
⁣⁣
I personally don’t like overly sweet desserts and this wasn’t that sweet at all unless you got a scoop of the cookies, so this was perfect. Not 100% like cheesecake per se but it’s a great alternative.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Loved how soft and crumbly the lotus Biscoff cookies got in the Greek yogurt. It did resemble the bottom crust of a cheesecake.⁣

Famous dumpling chain from Shanghai opens! 🥟⁣⁣

📍.dumpling - They have 400+ locations globally and this is their first one in BC! ⁣

I tried:⁣
•⁣ Yang’s (Pork) Dumplings
•⁣ Shrimp Dumplings
•⁣ Diced Beef Hot & Sour Sweet Potato Noodle Soup
⁣
Thoughts? Very JUICY. Each dumpling was exploding with soup. Soup itself is a little on the sweeter side. Thought it was interesting how their buns are kind of a combo between an XLB (小笼包）with a thin skin at the top, and a pan fried bun (生煎包）with the crispy bottom.⁣
⁣
However, desire boasting crispy bottoms, I didn’t think they were crispy at all. Perhaps a bad batch? Let me know if you’ve had a different experience. Given the lack of crispiness (which I value), I rate it an overall 7.8/10. ⁣

Finally trying the viral Korean-inspired Dubai chewy cookie!! ⁣

Not really a traditional “cookie”. More similar to Japanese daifuku imo. Chewy marshmallow exterior (not mochi though) with toasted kataifi + pistachio cream filling. ⁣
⁣
Really good! 8/10 for me. Popped it in the microwave for ~12s and it was perfect. ⁣
⁣
What’d make it even better is if the outer layer was thicker. I wasn’t expecting it to be so thin and flimsy. But the filling was delicious - crispy and not overly sweet! Cocoa powder balanced everything out perfectly too. ⁣

New coffee shop .ca ☕️

Located at Aberdeen Square (different from Aberdeen Centre Mall). Enter from the skytrain station side and go to the 2nd floor. ⁣

Unique creations and they don’t charge extra for oat milk. However, I did feel like their prices were a little high to start with so it’s likely baked in already. ⁣
⁣
I tried just their signature Butter Latte and although it was a decent drink, I didn’t think it was outstanding or anything. If I were to visit again I’d probably go for something with a cream/foam top instead.⁣

Cute branding though. Interior wise - small space, limited seats, and very casual environment. ⁣
⁣

They specialize in meat floss cakes and currently offer 6 different flavours at $5.99/each. ⁣

The floss is made from chicken and the cake is like an angel/sponge cake. Out of the ones I tried my fave was the nori. It’s very similar to the original but for no the same price you get some nori flakes so why not 😂 ⁣

Filling is the same (mayo I believe) just the top layer of floss varies. But to be frank, the flavour profile between each is quite similar imo. I also do wish the cake itself was a tad less sweet. That said, as a meat floss lover myself I enjoyed it overall. Others may find it a tad rich though. ⁣

New location at Gilmore Station!⁣

Their pork spicy garlic is my fave and for $16.99 I think it’s a pretty good price.⁣

I love how convenient this new location is, literally steps away from the Gilmore skytrain station. Definitely a great spot for a quick meal for those commuting frequently in the area. ⁣
⁣
PSA: They also have a KINTON BOWLER Program — collect stamps for every bowl of ramen you finish in order to redeem free food, merch, gift cards and “lifetime free” offers. Ask them in store for more details! ⁣
