Being healthy isn’t just about the physical—it means taking care of your mind as well.

Today is World Health Day. Take a moment to check in with yourself. Breathe deeply, acknowledge your feelings, and honor what you need.

Mind Over Marathon: Let Your Mind Lead the Way

Two years ago, Kristen laced up her running shoes—not for a race, but for her mind. What started as a simple way to move through life’s challenges turned into a journey of resilience, proving that every step forward counts.

As a charity runner for CMHA, Vancouver-Fraser in the 2025 BMO Vancouver Marathon, Kristen is turning her journey into impact.

Read her inspiring story and find out some ways you can build your own mental fortitude by just going for a run: cmhavf.ca/runforyourmind2025-kristen/

March 31 is the International Transgender Day of Visibility. With anti-transgender rhetoric on the rise, it’s important for us all to stand up for our transgender, two-spirit and non-binary community members. Many transgender people don’t feel safe sharing their lived gender identity with others. They may hide behind a mask that gets heavier overtime, leading to mental health struggles.

No one should have to hide who they are. Help make our world safe for everyone. Stand up for transgender people, support transgender friends and family, and correct misinformation and disinformation.

Our Story

At CMHA, Vancouver-Fraser, we believe everyone deserves to be mentally healthy and live in a healthy community. By offering community-based mental health education, services, and supports for all ages, CMHA, Vancouver-Fraser contributes to the long-term health and well-being of our communities. We have three pillars of work:

Wellness and Community Inclusion – We walk alongside people living with mental illness. We support them to reach their hopes and dreams and to live full and contributing lives in their communities.

Children and Youth – We increase young peoples’ mental health knowledge while developing their skills to maintain positive mental health and to ask for help when they need it.

Mental Health Promotion – Mental health includes habits and behaviours that build positive mental health, social support networks we can count on and having a strong connection to our community. We help people with these aspects of living a mentally healthy life and reduce the stigma related to mental illness.
