Somewhere along the line, we started worshipping the ones who could endure the most as if life is a Die Hard sequel.
The ones who push through, keep going, stay strong even when they’re dying inside.

We hand out medals for survival. We build entire cultures around grit, Angela Duckworth’s The Power of Passion and Perseverance has over 6 million views!
But has anyone stopped to ask what it’s costing us?

What happens when we raise generation after generation of warriors, but never let them lay down their swords?
What happens when every hardship is seen as a test of strength, not a wound needing care?
What happens when the only story we admire is the comeback and not the pause or the grief?

We’ve become a world of calloused humans clapping for each other’s scars while ignoring the infections beneath them.
We normalize pain so well that we forget we weren’t built for this kind of war.

Humans were not designed to constantly “slay.”
We are soft-bodied creatures with nervous systems wired for connection, not constant combat.

We confuse emotional shutdown for strength. We confuse dissociation for grace under pressure.
We’ve been trained to admire the high-functioning wounded.

But that isn’t healing. That’s trauma conditioning.

Maybe the bravest thing now isn’t getting back up.
Maybe it’s saying: “I’m not okay. I need to sit down. And I don’t want to do this alone anymore.”

Not because we want to raise a generation of wimps and wussies but because the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.
Because compassion is not weakness and numbness is a horrible strategy.

Humans are not in need of resilience but rather, we are in need of repair.

And if any of this feels like your story and if you’ve mastered the art of functioning while quietly falling apart then my podcast, The Strong Pretender, was made for you.

It’s where we finally don’t need to be fierce unless it’s on a runway. But instead be brave enough to name what hurts and give ourselves the space needed to heal it.
One honest episode at a time.

We’ve been told affirmations work.

But here’s the truth: if there’s no emotion behind them, they’re just noise.

For women with deep attachment wounds, saying
“I am enough” can feel like a lie.

You might whisper it and flinch.
You might say it out loud but feel nothing.
You might cry, or roll your eyes, or feel nothing at all.

That’s okay.

Affirmations aren’t magic spells.
They’re reminders.

And the right one, the one that hits you in your gut, the one you can feel. can start to rewrite the script you didn’t know was running your whole life.

Here are 7 mantras for attachment wounds.
Try one each day this week.

Say it in the mirror. Whisper it before bed.
Write it down. Cry it out.
Whatever works.

If one feels true, keep it.
If one doesn’t, let it go.

The only rule is: find what speaks to the part of you that’s still waiting to feel safe.

We talk a lot about abandonment issues but that’s not the full story.

For high-functioning women, attachment wounds rarely show up as chaos.

They show up as control.

As independence that’s too rigid.

As “I don’t need anyone,” even when your soul is starving for closeness.

You’ve built a life that looks strong.

But inside, you’re exhausted from chasing love you don’t fully trust.

From leaving before you can be left.

From carrying everyone’s weight but never feeling held yourself.

This week, we’re unpacking attachment wounds, not just as a psychological concept, but as the invisible script running beneath your relationships, your career, and your sense of self.

Because you can be powerful and still need to be seen.

You can be capable and still long to be cared for.
Let’s unlearn the lie that safety means self-erasure

Why Do Affirmations Matter…Especially for Perfectionists?

When perfectionism takes over, your inner voice often sounds more like a drill sergeant than a supporter. You push harder, expect more, and punish yourself for anything less than flawless.

That’s not drive. That’s internalized fear masquerading as ambition.

This is where affirmations come in—not as fluffy feel-good quotes, but as deliberate, therapeutic tools. Grounded in neuroscience, self-affirmations help rewire your brain by interrupting the shame loops perfectionism thrives on.

They offer your nervous system something it rarely gets: safety.

When repeated consistently especially during high-stress moments affirmations help anchor you to your worth outside of performance. They soften the fight-or-flight reflex. They make room for compassion.

So no, mantras won’t magically heal perfectionism overnight.

But they will help you start speaking to yourself like someone you care about.

✨ This week’s mantras are written for high-achievers who are secretly exhausted by their own expectations. If that’s you, save them. Say them. Pair them with breath. Let your body hear something new.

Because healing isn’t found in pushing harder. It’s found in learning to stay when you feel like you’re failing.

🧩 Which one landed for you most this week? Or share one of your own in the comments.

You’re accomplished, respected, “put together.”
But behind the performance?
Guilt for resting. Shame for slipping. Fear of being “found out.”

This episode of The Strong Pretender dives into the perfectionist’s paradox where success masks self-criticism, and high standards turn into self-sabotage. We unpack how this shows up in your career, relationships, parenting, and your relationship with yourself.

If you’ve ever struggled to feel enough no matter how much you do, this one’s for you.

You’re the one they call “driven.”
The one who overdelivers, holds it all together, and never seems to crack.

But what they don’t see is the invisible contract you signed:
Be perfect. Or be nothing.

High-functioning perfectionism doesn’t scream chaos, it hides in composure.
It’s not loud, it’s silent, corrosive, and masked by “success.”
You don’t just fear failure, you equate it with being unworthy.
And rest? Feels like weakness disguised as laziness.

This isn’t ambition.
This is self-punishment dressed in achievement.

If any of that landed, pause.
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t need to prove your worth through output.
You are not your productivity.

This week’s topic is for the high-achieving, hard-on-themselves women who carry excellence and exhaustion in the same breath.

Save this carousel. Revisit it when the pressure creeps back in.
Healing starts when perfection stops being the goal.

This week, we’re focusing on perfectionism and the hidden cost of holding it all together.

For high-functioning women, perfectionism doesn’t always look like control issues or color-coded calendars.
Sometimes it looks like burnout masked as ambition.
Like procrastination mistaken for laziness.
Like over-delivering at work but silently falling apart at home.
Like never starting the project… because deep down, you’re scared it won’t live up to who people think you are.

Tomorrow’s episode:
When Perfect Isn’t Enough: The Hidden Cost of High-Functioning Perfectionism
drops on The Strong Pretender podcast.

If you’ve ever felt like one small failure could unravel everything, you’re not alone.

Follow along this week for raw insights, tools, and stories on perfectionism, burnout, and unlearning the survival habits that keep us stuck.

If this week’s episode on body dysmorphia hit close to home, this is for you.

Every week, we’ll be dropping 7 mantras, one for each day to help you start rewiring what your nervous system has been taught to believe.

Because body dysmorphia isn’t just mental. It’s cellular.
It’s not just about the mirror, it’s about memory.
And healing takes practice.

Try one each morning or night. Say it. Whisper it. Or if that feels like too much, write it.
Some will feel like truth. Others might feel out of reach. That’s okay.

This isn’t about fake positivity.
It’s about giving your body something new to hold onto.
Because repetition rewires.
And self-compassion isn’t weakness; it’s a survival strategy.

New mantra sets drop weekly right here.

Today, I’m bringing the stage home.
I’m proud to announce that I’ve officially been granted the license to host

TEDxTsawwassenWomen, taking place on
October 18, 2025.

This event isn’t about spotlighting one voice, it’s about making space for many.

Tsawwassen has been my home base for years. It’s where I’ve grown as a therapist, an advocate, and a mother. And I’ve always known our community is filled with stories the world needs to hear.

This TEDx event is dedicated to my mother, a woman whose voice wasn’t always heard, but who raised a daughter to speak loudly, and to create space for others to do the same.

We’re looking for real voices. Layered stories. Ideas that could spark change.
If you know someone whose voice needs a platform, tag them, message me, or stay tuned.

This is just the beginning.

You don’t need a diagnosis to know something’s not right.
You look in the mirror and don’t see beauty…………you see battle.
And the shame? It’s not about vanity.
It’s about survival.

Body dysmorphia isn’t just a thought pattern, it’s a full-body memory of where you never felt safe, accepted, or enough.

The body becomes a battlefield,
and the nervous system becomes a vault
holding every comment, every comparison, every time you were looked at like you were too much… or not enough.

This carousel isn’t about appearance.
It’s about regulation.
It’s about control.
It’s about healing where the wounds were buried under muscle, memory, and performance.

If this hits you somewhere deep:
You’re not broken.
You’re tired.
And tired bodies don’t need fixing.

They need gentleness.

About KetoEnergyCoach

Welcome to my page! My name is Carole and I am the Keto Energy Coach. I created this space primarily to be an information resource for those interested in health and wellness either for themselves or as a training resource for those in service to others.

As an Industrial Psychologist, Multi stream Entrepreneur and mom of three beautiful children, I believe in a holistic approach to health and well being. My roster of clients include individuals looking to overcome any mental blocks preventing them from achieving their goals as well as many who need direction attaining their physical goals which should begin with observing a healthy way of life. Due to the multitude of benefits I have been able to achieve in my own life as well as those of my clients, I am an advocate of following a ketogenic lifestyle. The past year has given me the opportunity to discover a new technology for almost anyone looking to improve their health and energy. Naturally fermented exogenous ketones are a game changer in the health and wellness industry and I extensively discuss them and promote them through my business.

Having three children, enjoying lots of travel as part of our lifestlye as well as being a successful entrepreneur in several businesses has made me keenly aware of the value of my time. For this reason, I now believe that I can best service others by teaching them how to leverage their time. The changes in our world over the past year has made this mission all the more pressing. Having the energy and mental wellness to naviagate life in such uncertain times has now become more important than ever.

Imagine having the flexibility to create schedules that work for you and your family; the financial freedom to know that the well being and security of your family will not be at stake despite economic turmoil and amazing amounts of energy both mentally and physically to deal with anything that comes your way. Let me share with you how I’ve made this all possible in my life and would truly be honoured to let me be part of your journey.
