How far is Virtual Reality moving forward in regards to vision care?

New diagnostic software can be implemented into our mobile phones and easily be attached to VR headsets providing valuable information such as for patients and doctors.

US researches have developed a virtual reality headset that uses light to stimulate targeted areas in patient´s visual field. Interesting article writen by in the , we recommend the lecture.

How can you integrate ocular surface assessment into your patient’s standard examination?

In this interesting article written and shared by Laura M. Periman, MD at , she discusses what happens if pathologies like Dry Eye Disease and MGD (Meibomian Gland Disfunction) are not recognized and treated prior to surgery. Results will not be optimal, and patients often blame the surgeon. The true cause of the suboptimal, post-op state was the underlying, untreated condition. In fact, Dry Eye Disease has been correlated with IOL calculation errors and poor refractive outcome on multiple occasions 1 . Any cataract surgeon aiming to optimize surgical results should take this into consideration!

Great screening session carried out yestarday at . Our employees got their eyes screened as part of the amazing project driven by Halma plc and the to fight against preventable blindness in underserved countries.

The day had great activities prepared by Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular, one of them being an Augmented Reality simulation, to allow users to experience the effects of glaucoma while virtually walking through different obstacles on a maze. What an experience!

We also thank Adam Meyers and the Halma group collaborators for being involved in such a great cause that the world totally deserves.
