This online seminar course offers a brief historical overview of Somatics and Dance and addresses some of pedagogical approaches that support a somatic-based class. It also addresses philosophical underpinnings and offer students an opportunity to self reflect on their own philosophy of teaching.

Just announced: I am offering a four-day Dance Teacher Intensive - Somatic-based, August 4th to 7th: 9:30am to 3:30pm. This intensive is in partnership with the Shadbolt Center for the Arts and Moving Arts and Somatic Studies and will be held at the Shadbolt Centre (indoors and outdoors)

This year's intensive focuses on 'Moving in Relation: Shaping in Space.' The Curriculum focuses on Space and Shape Categories from Laban Movement Analysis - with applications to a somatic-based dance class.

This is a professional Development Workshop for Dance Teachers/ Artists. Class size is limited to only six students.

Open to all dancers, at any level, who are interested in the creative process.

Dancers are supported to create with a somatic approach, creating works from the inside-out and engaging in a compositional process that involves working from one's 'lived' experience. Sensing, working from impulse, and finding an authentic voice is foregrounded and encouraged.

Through exercises, personal feedback and group support, students will be able to shape a dance work-in-progress that is personal, meaningful and authentic. Working with others in a supportive, engaging, and dialectical manner is part of the process.

Works in progress will be shared in an informal studio sharing the last hour on the last Sunday of the workshop.
