Did you know that doctors don't always know what is best for a prosthesis? Make sure they don't use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before handling your prosthesis. This can cause crazing.

Did you know that alcohol can ruin an ocular prosthesis? If you wear makeup, be sure to check the labels on your makeup remover for any kind of alcohol, which can cause crazing.

Remember to clean your prosthesis every 2 to 4 weeks! Using freshly washed hands, remove the prosthesis and place it in a small, clean container. Pour a solution of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide over the prosthesis and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes (absolute maximum 30 minutes). This will disinfect the prosthesis. Rinse the prosthesis thoroughly with a saline solution or total care product before re-inserting.
