Were you pressured with “good girl” mentality?

Perhaps you had parents that had a huge vision for you. They expected you to be ambitious and successful within their standards as well as societies standards. You aimed to please so you set aside your goals and dreams to become a success within your typical “cookie cutter” life. You needed to make your parents happy and proud. You had to be the “good girl” that listened and didn’t disappoint.

As a woman you’re afraid to pursue your dream despite the freedom you have now. What will society think? What will your family think? You’ve done everything they’ve asked but you know you’re capable of something greater. You seek happiness and fulfillment but have no clue where to start or how to achieve it.

Start fuelling that passion you set aside. Start by giving it attention in your free time. Start slowly pursuing it on the side. You’ll begin to notice yourself returning. You’ll notice how full you feel and notice your happiness returning🥰

Do you find yourself focusing on what you look like or sound like through the other persons eyes?

You’re trying to listen and you’re trying to understand, but you can’t shake the thought that “what if my smile isn’t pretty?”
“I hope there’s nothing on my shirt”
“I bet they think I look ridiculous”

We quite often focus on the negative perspective through someone else when in reality, they’re not seeing what you’re seeing.

Ask yourself:

“What do you see in yourself right now?”
“What are some things you see in the other person?”

Share with the other person the things you see in them. Often you’ll hear them say things back about you that you may never have seen yourself as.

It brings to perspective that we are not what we think we are. We are who we believe we are. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

We can get so caught up in societies standards that we forget that a body is just a body. We are the only ones that know what it’s like to live in it. We are the only ones that know how to take care of it best. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Body image is so subjective depending on the culture and person. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s become tough with the amount of editing apps, instagram models and how social media has now made it so easy to distort bodies to make them seem “perfect.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here’s the thing: just because the body may look “perfect” to you doesn’t mean the body is healthy! It’s not fair to shame yours.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Our bodies are able to carry children, fight illnesses, run triathlons, they’re capable of so much more and also worth more than only being on a magazine cover or instagram post. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My first vision board was created at age 12 and I have yet to see what I have accomplished as I haven’t seen it since (recently discovered it in a drawer but haven’t pulled it out yet) It’ll be interesting to see what I manifested then and what came to be now🙌🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With Covid numbers on the rise and with so much uncertainty ahead for the rest of 2020. Let’s spend our time creating a board of positivity we can manifest while we navigate this trying time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is an amazing craft that can always be added to and be uplifting to work on! If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety or struggling with mental health in general, a vision board is a creative way to get positive energy flowing again. It helps to focus you and get in touch with what you feel is missing or what you feel you need/want. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Have you ever taken a minute to just stop?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What would happen if you stopped what you were doing to focus on yourself for a minute? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we’re mentally exhausted this is when you need you more than ever. You need to recharge. You need to nourish. You need to rest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turn your phone off when you come home from work. Find one thing in the day that you can look forward to. Bring that excitement and that positive energy back into your life🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But most importantly, Get. That. Rest!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While we cannot always control the negativity that comes our way, we can utilize it as a weapon for growth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sometimes we feel like we are being buried by the negativity. That’s okay. It feels that way at the time. What it’s really doing is preparing you, strengthening you, and making you resilient. We get so caught up in the negativity that we focus on how it feels rather that what it’s doing FOR us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There will be those with the intention to bury you. Let them. All seeds need to be buried in order to root. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Root yourself. Prepare, accept, strengthen and take your time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚡️Your energy is like currency: Spend it well and invest it wisely.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday’s event really put into perspective the importance of awareness and mindfulness of your energy!💪🏻⚡️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Energy is valuable. Spend it on the people who believe in you and your purpose. Spend it on that art class, spend it on that hike- spend it on things and people that feed that positive energy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we lock energy into our stress or anxiety, we become closed off and tense and we give off an irritability without even noticing. We will have days where we might not vibrate higher and that’s okay. But how can we pivot our energy from a low to a high? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Think of something that makes you feel good. Even plan something that will bring you joy. It could be as simple as planning to get your favourite starbucks drink on your break or meeting with your loved ones for a picnic in the park! You can even imagine a memory or scenario that made you feel content and calm. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When the negative thoughts chime in, write them down. They can be as ugly as they come. Let them flow. Do not avoid them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tear up the paper and throw it away or burn it if you are able. You are physically removing that negative energy out in this moment. You will feel the energy shift in you. Notice what this does to your chest, shoulders, and even your jaw. Does your body feel lighter? Try and zero in on where this energy is heaviest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve needed to take a break from my social media and start enjoying some good books again🙌🏼 it’s so easy for social media to slowly take over your life. Especially when you’re starting a new business😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Never be afraid to unplug or reduce your time connecting on social media. Your worth is not attached to the amount of followers you have or the amount of likes and comments you get. Keeping up with your social is never worth the burn out😓⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
