✨Join us for the annual CSHP-BC Student Symposium on Friday, November 3rd at 5:30 PM in PHRM 3340!

This year, our CSHP-BC President, Dr. Winnie Ma, and Membership Chairperson, Dr. Mahsa Movahedan, will present on the benefits of CSHP, what hospital pharmacy entails, and their experiences as clinical pharmacists.

In addition to leaders from our BC Branch council, we'll have resident representative, Tanya Dhanoa (LMPS) discussing her journey to residency, and her experiences in hospital pharmacy so far. A question period will be at the end of the session, providing an excellent opportunity to ask any questions about hospital pharmacy and residency. Food will be provided for all attendees who RSVP!

**STUDENT OPPORTUNITY**

Hi everyone!

CSHP-BC Branch Advocacy Committee is looking for a student member to join their team! The committee meets every third Tuesday of the month between 5:30 to 6:30pm (with the exceptions of July, August, and November). This is a great opportunity to learn more about current advocacy work within clinical pharmacy and to develop your professional skills. The committee's current work focuses on advocacy and collaboration with the Ministry of Health for pharmacist expanded scope of practice and prescribing, Health Sciences Association classification of health authority pharmacist grades; pharmacy technician advocacy, and Pharmacy Appreciation Month.

✨✨The CSHP-BC Student Mentorship Program is open again for registration!

This program is designed to increase student awareness of the many aspects of hospital pharmacy practice including the role of clinical pharmacists, the medication distribution system, clinical research, and pharmacy administration. This will be achieved by pairing pharmacy students with clinical pharmacist mentors at the beginning of the academic year. After the matching process, mentors and students are free to schedule subsequent mentoring activities according to their own availability.

All CSHP students in the 2023 membership cycle are eligible to participate in the 2023/24 Student Mentorship Program! Each pairing will last one school year.
Please complete BOTH steps to sign up:

Come join us for our annual Hospital Residency Information Night on Thursday, September 21st from 5:30- 8:00 PM in PHRM 1201 where you will learn about each residency program offered within British Columbia (LMPS, Interior Health, Island Health, Northern Health, & BC Cancer Agency).

Welcome to the fourth and final video in the CSHP-BC: Pharmacy Spotlight Series for PAM 2023! In this video, we will be hearing from Dr. Renée Dagenais.

Renée is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the St. Paul’s Hospital Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. After graduating with her B.Sc.(Pharm) from UBC, she completed a pediatric hospital residency with Lower Mainland Pharmacy Services, and was in the last graduating class of the UBC post-baccalaureate PharmD program. In her current role, Renée provides care for people with cystic fibrosis and CFTR-related disorder in the in- and outpatient setting. She is passionate about providing patient-centred care, and is an avid advocate for both her patients and the pharmacy profession.

Thank you to Ingrid Frank (PY3) for moderating this interview and for providing video editing. We hope that everyone enjoyed and learned a lot about the amazing work done by the pharmacy team. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to speak with us and to provide insight into their careers. We would like to wish everyone a happy Pharmacy Appreciation Month and a wonderful spring!

CSHP-BC Resident Showcases will be taking place on Tuesday, April 4th from 6-7 pm PST over Zoom. This event will feature two current BC PGY1 residents who will each present a unique patient case that occurred during their rotations. They will walk us through the patient presentation, therapeutic considerations & what they ended up suggesting. Residents will share clinical pearls as well as their role in patient care. There will be lots of time for any questions you might have regarding clinical pharmacy practice and pharmacy residency!

This year, our presenters will be:

Welcome to the third video in the CSHP-BC: Pharmacy Spotlight Series for PAM 2023! In this video, we will be hearing from Tifaine Magnusson.

Tifaine currently works with the Fraser Health Authority in the role of Virtual Health Addiction Clinic Pharmacist as well as Clinical Pharmacist, Overdose Response and Vulnerable Populations. She recently graduated from the BC Centre on Substance Use Fellowship program in 2022, and had the privilege of being part of the first graduating class. Prior to this, Tifaine has been working as a clinical pharmacist at Langley Memorial Hospital and has long been passionate about working in psychiatry and substance use disorders. Tifaine graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and completed her hospital residency with the Fraser Health Authority in 2012. When not at work, Tifaine has a busy life with her husband, two young sons and a rambunctious labradoodle named Gus. She will be speaking to us about her journey to her current positions, advice to pharmacy students and more! We hope you will find this interesting and informative.
